Title:Administrator Home: Rome, Italy
Company: Un Sacco di Canapa From: Yerington, NV USA
Industry Category:Universities:
Industries: Internet shop selling smoking paraphernalia, ROOR water bongs, pipes, rolling papers and accessories., Interests: My interest is the separation of religious dogma - "mala prohibita" (illegal but do no harm to others) from the laws of the State, leaving only "mala in se". (harmful acts).,

This a an outline of what is in my opinion the root of the trouble we are having right now on this planet. It was put to the word processor a few months ago by my wise husband and now we are spreading the word and getting the needed grassroots suport to change the way people think about the underlining cause of our current state:

Prohibitionism, that is, the enforcement of moral imperatives, however important they may seem to those who represent the particular moral (religious) authority advocating these imperatives, has worked its way into our worldly laws (justice) and is actually CAUSING crime by declaring this or that immoral behaviour to be criminal. An example is the consumption of drugs. It may be immoral to consume drugs for instance, but it should not be a criminal offense.

Actually, a huge part of international organised crime only exists because of the idiotic criminalization of immoral activity (in this case consumption of drugs) and the mafia, the CIA, as well as other criminal and intelligence organizations are USING the fact that this prohibition exists, to make vast fortunes. They have every interest in keeping the situation exactly as it is because they are making billions of dollars every year. Repression of drug production and trade, as well as consumption, is actually a primary cause of the increase of the "drug problem". The laws in existence HELP the criminal element in that any competition is eliminated. Criminals have every interest to hook people on addictive substances, simply because it is excellent business for them. Remember the rise of the mafia and in general organized crime in the US in the early part of the last century - all because of the prohibition of alcohol - a historical example of "moral-based" prohibition.

Another instance of moral imperative creeping into our laws and wreaking havoc is the current in-fighting of several factions of the judeo/christian tradition, each painting the other in terms of "evil". We have Jews (in both Israel and the US) and Christians posturing against the Muslim world and in fact a perfect justification for the Bush/Blair war effort is the diverse nature of moral imperatives that have become part of the laws of each "block" of countries. Even inside India you have violence based to a large degree on this "moral" division between religious groupings, hindu, muslim and christian. Same thing for problems between India and Pakistan, between Israel and Palestine, and I could go on and on enumerating.

The moral and religious imperatives which have crept into and have been firmly established in our respective laws, are one of the root causes of strife and war. Of course such "intelligence" organizations as the CIA and the israeli Mossad are using these divisions very cleverly to promote war, in fact the most rabid religiously bigoted regimes, which are even introducing religious law (the islamic "sharia") to be the law of the land, have been promoted and established by intervention of intelligence agencies, just for the purpose of fomenting strife. Divide and rule is the imperative.

So clearly, if we are to work for world peace, the first thing would be to insist on a separation of the laws that are necessary for the peaceful and happy living together of people and whole populations with each other, from those laws that are mere moral (or religious) imperatives. I am not saying that moral or religious imperatives should not exist. They should, and they should be followed, but voluntarily! The purpose of laws is to allow the peaceful and happy interaction of people and populations. The purpose of religious (or moral) imperatives is to forward one or the other view of what is "right" or "wrong". Since what's right to a Christian probably is not right for a Moslem, what's right for a Hindu may not be right for a Buddhist, what's right for a Rastafarian may not be right for a Baptist, there is no way out of this morass but to eliminate moral/religious imperatives and prohibitions from the laws.

Morals and religion are a personal matter for each individual. They are not to be determined by the State and much less are they to be the subject of criminal law. Let religious and moral authorities take care of their subject and let the State take care of peaceful living together of individuals and of the States with each other!

A world constitution would be a great opportunity to change things in such a desirable direction. One could envision a system, in which ALL peoples can live together in peace, regardless of their moral and religious convictions. The law, not to belabour the point, should only regulate those matters that are directly inherent in and relevant to the living together of people. Everything else is the province of Religion, but Religion MUST BE SEPARATE from the laws of the state. I feel that this would be the most basic and most important point in any effort to reform our laws, and would have to be clearly made in a world constitution.

A "first offender" in this respect are the Ten Commandments, received by Moses and passed on to his people. They are a veritable mix of real laws necessary for the peaceful living together of people (do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness) - also called mala in se - and moral imperatives (do not speak the name of the Lord in vain, do not covet, remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy). Many of our secular laws have improperly incorporated more and more moral imperatives, also called mala prohibida. When you try to enforce moral precepts by force of criminal law, you get lawlessness and war.

Please think about this mix-up. There is a clear necessity of separating Church and State - or separateing "mala in se" from "mala prohibida" - as well as making such separation clear in the actual text of our laws. I believe this to be of basic importance to achieving Peace in the world and would be interested in your views and the views of those who are actively working for world peace.

Kind regards
Josef
