My blog's over 3 months old - and am loving the journey! Conversations with Dina

HERE'S A BIT ON WHAT I DO .....

My Company is a small boutique ... there's just the 2 of us.  I was with a large firm for 10 years after which i set out on my own 4 years ago. We specialize in qualitative research, and more recently we've been exploring avenues to use our skills as facilitators in working with groups - creativity sessions at a corporate level and in running playgroups and workshops for young minds.

We use many techniques .... borrowing concepts from psychology, anthropology, ethnography, semiotics, and even stuff like synaesthesia.  Currently am working with inkblots and colour ! The whole attempt is to allow the mind to wander, shedding rational reasoning, thinking out-of-the-box.

Also in the process of setting up a Youth Program

SOUL FOOD... MORE FAVOURITES

"Every blade of grass has its Angel that bends over it and whipers ... 'grow, grow'" - The Talmud

"Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up" Pablo Picasso

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes" Marcel Proust

More Soul Food .....

RECENT MUSINGS

A wonderful argument for and against scenarios ......

"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created --created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination." - John Schaar

"There is no pregiven territory of which we can make a map -- the map making itself brings forth the features of the territory." - Fritjof Capra, The Web of Life

Here is one of life’s pathways, showing how we grow. As we evolve, our focus gradually shifts from outer desires to inner desires, then to inner needs and finally to outer needs.

Desires - wants of the ego.

Needs - fundamental experiences of our soul.

Some questions you can ask yourself :

Where does your focus predominantly lie at this time? Which quadrant holds your largest list? To which area do you direct most of your energy? Which area would you wish to direct most of your energy ? Which area would you like to change ?  What would you want each quadrant to hold - in the short term, in the next 10 -20 - 30 years ?

WHAT BRINGS ME HERE ....

Chaotic rambles and butterfly wings and rainbows .... and am looking forward to many such interactions here. I see this space on Ryze as a piece of Jazz ... it reminds me of Doug Little, a jazz musician and a member of The Motion Poets, an improvisational jazz band. Doug described improvisational jazz:

"What I play will inspire the drummer to play something. The drummer might inspire me to play something. The musicians listen to one another and make spontaneous decisions. The possibilities are endless. It is always within the form and it is always interconnected with each person but it is never the same.

The joy of performing is the group sound. I can't play  whatever I want whenever I want. Jazz is democratic  music and everybody gets to solo but only within the  context of the whole. The group is what is the most important thing. Sometimes the best thing for me to do is  not to play. And to respect another's musical space.

When I do solo, I still have to pay attention to what the  rhythm behind me is. I can't ignore it. I have to be a part of that. Playing in a group means giving up some of your  space for the group. If a band isn't playing with any interaction, I walk out because it is no fun."

So lets play a little music with chaos, creativity, diversity and complexity .... i'd love to hear about you .... please sign my guestbook and lets start jamming.
