MY CREADO: When one's work is equal to one's judgment, that is a bad sign for one's judgment; and when one's work surpasses one's judgment, that is worse, as happens when a photographer is amazed at having done so well; and when judgment exceeds the work, that is a very good omen and a person so endowed will without doubt produce excellent work. He will compose few works but they will be of the kind to make others stop and contemplate such perfection and admiration. --------adapted from the writings of Leonardo da Vinci MY WEB SITE: MY PROFILE: I have been a Professional Photographer since Nov 1984. I specialise in STILL LIFE, INDUSTRIAL, FOOD, JEWELLERY, ARCHITECTURAL & PEOPLE+/-PRODUCT Photography (Digitally shot on a LEAF Valeo 22Wi (High Resolution back). Was educated in Photography at The Polytechnic of Central London from 1979 to 1984. It was a one day a week course and I earned my bread (no butter) working at Colorama Processing Labs. Started off loading printed paper into the developing machine and when I left in '84 I was Supervisor of the Paper Processing, QC and Finishing Departments.Received my Diploma in Professional Photography in 1984. Spent 3 months in Chicago, USA assisting various photographers. Returned to the best city in the world Mumbai and have been progressively building my career ever since. It has been a difficult path but I can say at this point that I have achieved some standing in this Profession. My forte may not be producing great creative concepts and images, but in actually satisfactorily executing concepts and layouts brought to me by Designers' and Art Directors'. It's all very well shooting good looking images for your portfolio, but interpreting your clients brief is a different ball game. I have worked with the big agencies around the country. However over the last few years a major chunk of the work is for Direct Clients. At present a large percentage of my work is Jewellery & Food Photography. I have shot 95 Jewellery catalogues. In my spare time, I don't work on Saturday and Sunday (English habit), I like to meet friends either at home or at the club. A few/many alchoholic beverages and great company is the best stress buster. I have old school friends, old neighbours and photographer friends and it is normally my initiative that keeps up the regular meetings. Member of The Photographers' Guild of India. Looking forward to making a lot of new friends on Ryze. TO ADD ME AS A FRIEND: ian@vsnl.com Cheers
