About Me, Professionally

Hi. My name is Laura.

I am an editorial consultant, specializing
in copy for small business owners and
entrepreneurs
— generally ranging from
articles and Web copy to organizing ideas
so my clients can begin, make progress
on, or complete
the book and/or info product
ideas
they've been kicking around for years.
I also incorporate my enthusiastic
expertise in the areas of creativity,
brainstorming, visualization, inspiration,
networking, e-books, handwriting analysis,
business writing, and business etiquette.

Words I'd use to describe myself are:
friendly, creative, laid back, down-to-earth,
intelligent, and basically low-maintenance.
I work hard and set pretty high, but reasonable,
expectations for myself and my work, and I
tend to look for the same in the the people
who work with me.

I grew up in Phoeni x and attended Xavier
High School. After that, I lived in Tucson
for 7 years, earning my BA in non-fiction
writing from the University of Arizona while
working at the Arizona Daily Star as a
researcher and P/T writer. I spent the next
7+ years living and working in the New York
City area.

About Me, Personally

I have a wide array of interests: reading
fiction & non-fiction; playing racquetball;
watching baseball; Nevada blackjack
(the continuous-shuffle crap in Arizona is
NOT blackjack); exploring swapmeets
& yardsales; sewing, crafting, and
creating; watching and critiquing almost
any kind of movie; working with my trainer
3x per week; running - for the exercise;
feeling a brisk breeze on my skin at dusk;
driving on the 51 at midnight with U2 at
full volume; drinking in the moon.

I am 38 - and a Taurus. I was born in
Detroit but lived there for only the first
2 months of my life. My parents brought
me to Phoenix, where I grew up. After
graduating from Xavier, I lived and worked
in Tucson for 7 years; following that, I spent
the next 7+ years living and working in
the New York City area. While there, I
perfected my word processing skills,
but I didn't use the City's many cultural
opportunities nearly to the extent I now
wish I had.

My father passed away this past New
Year's Eve, but my parents were married
for 40 years. I have 2 sisters and one
niece. I have 2 dogs and one cat.

My Accomplishments

I drove across the country twice — once
it was just Moondanz, my Jack Russell
terrier, and I. I went to Ireland on my own
— and put 700 miles on the tiniest car
you've ever seen in just 5 days.

I have written a few e-books:

1,001 Real-Life Questions for Women:
A Self-Exploration Workbook to Make
You Laugh, Cry, Ponder, Ruminate, and
Consider

Words Made Easy: How to Write Copy
That's Sure to Attract Paying Customers

E-books Made Easy: Everything You Need
to Know About E-books, From Conception to

In the works:

Networking Made Easy: How to Be a
Successful People-Meeter

This past Labor Day, I made my second
foray into fiction, participating in the my
second 3-Day Novel Contest. I wrote an
entire novel over the Labor Day weekend,
starting midnight Friday and finishing by
midnight Monday. Neither of them placed
for an award, but the first one received a
really cool rejection letter that said: "Stan
(my main character) made it pretty far into
the process. Good dialogue. Good flow.
Good job!" There was just so much I could
do in 3 days but the first novel is just
about complete now. The working title is
Stan Finds Himself on the Other Side of
the World
.

In addition to editing and writing, I do as
much public speaking as I can.

These activities keep me busy — but they
also help me grow and I'm having a great
time meeting awesome new people.
