The latest from my blogs:

Personal Mission
Some say that hard times call for hard measures, but I challenge that. I say that hard times call for wisdom and innovation. As Einstein said, "No problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness which created it."
My personal mission (at the moment!) is to blend new ways of thinking with timeless wisdom and to bring that to bear on the challenges that face business today through writing, speaking, and teaching.
Personal Life
Besides my career, which I love, these days I'm really just happy to find some time to spend with family. We homeschool my son, which is a real joy. And although I don't get to do it much any more, I really love swing dancing. Here are some pictures of my wife and me in action (click to enlarge):
Online Business Networking
So you've joined Ryze, created your profile, met a few people, and started talking in a few clubs. Maybe you've even upgraded your membership or written in your blog. But how do you really attract the kind of connections you want and get it to lead to business? I can help!
I've used online networking to obtain a 6-figure VP-level job, hire half a dozen people, win over $50,000 in consulting contracts, quadruple my readership on About.com, sell some domain names to people in England I've never even spoken to, and even to do a multi-million dollar merger deal that started on a Yahoo Group!
I've also co-authored a book on the topic, The Virtual Handshake: Opening Doors and Closing Deals Online, and have been collecting the stories and best practices of the top online networkers. I've put together a variety of resources and services to help you get the most out of online networking:
- Free articles about online networking from around the Web
- The Virtual Handshake Blog
- Free guide to online networking sites, business communities, and other social software
- Download The Virtual Handshake for free!
And, of course, networking with me is always free! :-) Drop me a message and make a connection!
Entrepreneurship
I'm also the About.com Entrepreneurs Guide. If you're an entrepreneur, or considering becoming one, my site is a great starting point to the best content on the Web about entrepreneurship. It's also a great place to network with other entrepreneurs by joining in the About Entrepreneurs discussion forums.
Come learn more at entrepreneurs.about.com.
Come Into My Parlor
I run three networks on Ryze where I hope you'll join me:
- Entrepreneurs Network
- The Virtual Handshake Network
- The Network Leaders Watercooler (open to network leaders only - PM me for the URL)
Feel free to leave me a message in my guestbook. If you'd like to network with me, send me a private message saying what you'd like to discuss. If you ever send me a message and don't get a prompt reply, it's nothing personal -- I'm just incredibly busy. I'll do my best to get back to you, but I typically receive a couple of dozen messages a day from new people, and I simply can't always reply personally to everybody. Be assured, though, that I read every message myself, so your message will get to me. Thanks for making the connection! Sign in to be able to view ScottAllen's guestbook and friends list!
