StressKill welcomes you

Welcome to the StressKill page.

My History

I was a lawyer for many years, specialising mainly in family law, but I retained throughout a small circle of loyal commercial clients who looked to me for all their legal advice.

After leaving the law, I trained in business strategy and set up my own company. However, I really wanted to work more with people at a personal level, so I trained as a life coach. I now specialise in coaching nurses on stress management.

I was married and have two children but was sadly divorced in 2001.

For 23 years, I worked in the most stressful of all legal fields, family law (divorces, child adoption, domestic violence, childcare). For the last seven years of practice, I was on the Law Society Children Panel, and worked with and for children who had been abused or neglected.

I became depressed, though I failed to realise this at the time. (Because of my natural optimism, I always thought things would be better next month.) I resorted to retail therapy, by buying a series of very expensive cars. I spent more than I could afford, so I began to borrow from dormant funds that I should not have touched.

To cut a long story short, I ended up in an open prison, and felt more stressed than ever. But then...
...God came into my life. He introduced me to strategies for defeating stress, and gave me deep peace in my heart. Even more amazingly, He released me from being a prisoner. I felt free though my liberty was restricted, regarding myself as a Disciple of Christ, instead of a prisoner.

God also changed my values and restored my integrity. He gave me a thirst for the Bible, a book that I had always considered dry and boring. As a result, I began a theology degree and have recently completed one third of it.

For the last three months of my sentence, I worked for Papworth Trust in Ipswich, teaching disabled adults numeracy, literacy and computer skills. I was released from the prison (which was the same one as Lord Archer went to later) in November 2001. Although I am sorry that I hurt my friends and family, by acting out of character, I have no regrets. Had I not gone to prison, I should not have learned the most valuable lessons in my life, and should not have emerged with untold riches in terms of experience and knowledge.

I have since written my unique three-aspect Stress Management Course, tried and tested...the hard way. I know it works. I am a so laid back, I'm almost horizontal, but haven't fallen over yet.

Having mentored and coached trainees in the legal profession and also in my Scouting roles, I decided to train as a Life Coach, and have since started a coaching practice. I love it. Receiving feedback such as "You have transformed my life." is a powerful motivation to continue. I work best with those who know what they want, but need help achieving it.

In practice, though I intended to coach business people primarily, by an accident of fate, I now coach nurses and other people who are suffering from stress. My role is to help them to regain personal freedom by winning the game of stress resilience.

I run a regular teleclass, on the last Monday of every month, entitled, "5 Keys to Defeating Stress. How to Get Your Life Back." Go to teleclass.com and look for the next one on the list of forthcoming classes, or search for the title. You will then find instructions on how to sign up for this free, but valuable class.

Churches

I am an Anglican (Episcopal) and I attend a small village church not far from the town where I live. You will see a photo of it above, with its Saxon (pre 1066) tower. However, I have recently joined the local Methodist Church too, so I have dual nationality, as it were. Occasionally, I attend the local Assemblies of God church. I am a Christian first and a member of denominations second.

Memberships

I am a founder member of the West Norfolk Evangelists' Association.

I am also a member of:

  • Mensa,

  • the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds,

  • the Institute of Advanced Motorists,

  • the National Trust (life member), and

  • the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

The Aim of this Page

This Page is a source of free encouragement, advice and sympathy. Let me know if I can help you in any way at all. I promise not to go on about religion. That is not my way.

And even if you don't need help or support right now, don't forget to sign my guestbook!
