---------LATEST NEWS----------------------------
Was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer in December.
Have had 1 major, 2 medium and 1 minor operation in that connection in 4 consecutive months from December.

Was recommended fortnightly adjuvant chemotherapy after the operation, which became compulsory after the cancer metastasised to the liver in April.

A further check-up in June showed the tumours there have increased from 1 to 7.

The drugs have been changed and dosages have been increased. Body and mind were and are taking it well - after all I was, am and will be well, it is just my liver which needs attention.

Some medical statistics give me 3 years to live, others 5. My own target is 3 and 5, 35.

Let's see what happens. I am actively researching alternate and complementary therapies to strengthen the healing process.

In the meantime, many major incidental benefits are occurring. I feel blessed and recharged.

As a small token of my appreciation, I am doing the spadework to set up a self and mutual help network for those who have experienced cancer either withing their own bodies, or those of their families and friends, or as health-care professionals or in any other role.

Exciting times ahead.

----------------------------WELCOME------------------------
Thanks so much for viewing my home page - let's hope it's the first step towards forging a meaningful, multi-faceted, enduring and symbiotic relationship.

Moving out of Nagpur, I have now settled in Hyderabad, joining ASCI (Administrative Staff College of India) as a full professor and head of the Marketing Area. My family continues to be in Nagpur however, and elder daughter in Nagpur, both an overnight train journey away.

Looking forward to reconnect with old friends in both Hyderabad and elsewhere, as also those who would like to work together on various management, marketing, development and IT related issues.

Any other ideas and initiatives are welcome too. General networking of course is fine.

In addition, it would be especially interesting to explore one or more of the following with a view to collaboration for:
- Carrying out in-house or 3rd party corporate/youth learning activities in various fields related to management, behavioural sciences and communications.
- Development of content for e-learning in the above fields, as also other areas.
- Initiating and/or strengthening other web-enabled and e-business initiatives
- Recruitment of entry and mid-level technical/non-technical personnel by IT/ITES/BPO sectors.
- Undertaking activities in the areas of BPR, strategic planning, new enterprise launch, social business etc.
- Any other areas of mutual interest.
Initiating such exploration even before I leave Nagpur may perhaps increase the probabilities of achieving closure.

More when things crystallise - Do stay in touch on my trips!
Of course, any (stray?!) ryzers from nagpur or touching it are most welcome to meet up after then...

Looking forward to networking opportunities aimed at tying up and even executing activities in the above areas, and to
converting many of the on-line friendship into off-line ones.

---------SELF INTRODUCTION----------------------
I've spent one third each of my 25+ years working life as an academic, executive (mostly general management) and also independent professional.

I focus on handling start-ups, transitions and change in general. Most of the professional work has been outside the corporate sector.

This includes public service agencies such as Government, international agencies, financing agencies, academia, media, activist organisations, associations and networks, in various socio-economic sectors and verticals/domains.

Some has also been IT/ICT/ITES and media sectors as also start-ups and family businesses.

The tasks have been in the area of strategy formulation, organisation restrucuting, team building, social business, IT enablement, feasibility studies and cross-disciplinary applied research/documentation.

The location has been in various parts of India (all but the 3 states of Sikim, A & N and Lakshadweep).

Most of my work in the last 7 years has been on-site throughout India (and a little bit virtually), in the action consulting mode, combining some of the strengths of the mode of working of the line executive on one hand and the independent professional on the other.

This has been through hands-on action consulting, research and evaluation, as also training, coaching, counselling and mentoring - all in the participatory paradigm.

I help people, groups and organisations to think about themselves, their life, their surroundings, their work and their plans differently.

That can be as a consultant, a coach, a teacher, a trainer, a friend or a family man.

One part of thinking, learning, communicating, working and indeed living differently is helping people break mind-sets in pursuit of effectiveness growth and profitability in increasingly more complex and turbulent times....

I cut across disciplines and domains for the purpose.

And now, something about myself -

My strengths are thinking, creativity, conceptualisation, learning, communications

- both for myself and facilitating it in others.

I am aware that these three are stock-in-trade for almost all of us, no matter what our backgrounds and roles are.

However, for me, these are not just tools, but verticals or domains in themselves.

As for my weaknesses - if you're really interested - pm me!

Like Peter Pan, I just never grow up, and thus remain a life-long student, learning from everyone and everything.

As far as the formal education goes, apart from an MBA from IIM-A, I have studied engineering, law and social sciences, and am also a self-taught behavioural trainer, media-person and PC user.

A thought:
- profession and teaching
- analysis and creativity
- dreaming and entrepreneurship
- determinism and probability
- speech and silence

When you combine these within yourself, are these really mutually contradictory?
Or in fact merely the thesis-antithesis dipoles impregnating you for a new synthesis?

Does that make things a little clearer, or does it muddy the waters further?!

And what about the future?

I have in the last few years, become completely fascinated by the way in which ICT in general and internet/mobile telephony in particular are transforming our lives.

I am studying it informally and hope to explore it in a formal manner, perhaps partly through the action research mode.

Towards this end, in addition to my existing professional work, I am doing the preparatory work to lauch the pilot phase of an e-business focussed on creating a hybrid manual-cum-electronic network.

This aims to bridge the digital divide between and within countries and sectors by boosting connectivity, interactivity and accessability.

It has already won a business plan competition in recognition of the fact that it would provide both for-profit and not-for-profit opportunities, to existing and would-be players in the old and new economies, to engage with their environment in multiple new ways.

I seek to join hands with those having strong abilities in e-biz, IT, sales, deal-making, mobilising finances, national/international networking, to make it come alive.

And last but not the least, me as a human being:

Born and brought up in Bombay, left at age 18, except for a brief 2 year teaching stint later.

Till recently, my mother and younger sister, both widowed, still stay there - together with my little nephew.

Many years ago, just a couple of years after he married my younger sister, my brother-in-law, a cancer surgeon, died due to a sudden severe infection.

Unable to bear the shock, my father had a relapse of his heart attack a few months later. It still aches for all of us...

Courageously, my sister rebuilt her life, doing a magnificent job not just of puling herself together, but also bringing up my nephew in a phenomenal manner. They have recently migrated to the USA, close to many cousins settled there since ages, and my mother has come to live with us.

Lived many years in Poona, Ahmedabad, Gauhati and Nagpur - and am currently based at the latter. That is where my wife grew up, graduated, and now practices and teaches architecture. Most of her natal family has now left - sisters in other metros in India, lots of people in the Gulf, and a couple in Australia/Canada.

I've been married for over 21 years now - but by no means to the same woman.

She's changed every year over the years, in itself is a source of exasperating delight.

She is my friend, philosopher, guide, guru, mentor, muse, safety net, and so many other things, everything...

Chandra is an architect planner who pracices and teaches in Nagpur,

She is better than me at everything - except finding a good spouse!

She has studied planning and is an excellent manager. I have studied management and am not too bad a planner. What does that state about the way in which education and careers are managed?

We have 2 lovely daughters Kushal and Priya, aged 20 and 12 respectively, both of whom have helped me in my long journey of growth as a human being.

Kushal is now in the 3rd year of the integrated law course at NLSIU Bangalore school, and before going there, represented Nagpur university in her very first year in the national moot courts, just as I had when I was studying law. She is networking heavily on professional, academic, development and creative fronts, doing a fine job on all. Once in a while, she also studies.

Priya is a reflective child in middle school, who loves doing things hands on. She had planned her life as follows:
- gardening in the morning for fun, veterinarian during the day to earn, and once again painting in the evening for fun.

Currently discovering the net and also choosing between archaeology and paleontology as 2 possible careers which integrate her interests in science and history.

So similar in some ways, so disparate in others, more so than chalk and cheese, they have taught me important lessons about the role of family environment, impact of differences in the basic genetic make up, and a range of other things.

I wonder a lot at everything God and man-made and enjoy the simple pleasures of life greatly, such as the:
- rising (and setting - especially in Bombay) sun
- fragrance of the earth in the first rain
- stinging beat of the drops when i walk in a storm
- taste of fruit freshly picked from the tree
- sounds of the wind whistling in the trees
- feel of my daughter when i cuddle up with her
- pleasant tiredness at the end of a springcleaning bout
- awe at the sheer rhythm and regularity in the universe
- passion when listening/watching a maestro perform
- sense of warmth when someone reaches out like you have

Looking forward to interacting with you in areas of mutual personal, professional and social interest.

And yes, towards this end, could you please sign my guestbook before exiting?
