'NETWORK WITH ME' does not WORK FOR ME

The distant past

After getting my M.B;B.S. Degree in 2000, the first thing I asked was - "Now what?". My classmates were in a mad rush to fill up applications for PG in any available college and any available specialty. I knew for sure I wasn't game for another 3 years of studying and taking exams, with a hell of a lot of non-stop, night duties on the side. I joined the health insurance industry instead.

The not-so distant past

After 3 years, realised that, it wasn't my cup of tea. I got this break with a leading advertising agency to work in their healthcare team. Life was all about fun, parties and ofcourse, deadlines. Meanwhile, marriage took me out of the country for a year. I fell in love with baking and housekeeping, in addition to America, KISS, Styx, Santana, Billy Joel, Cesaria Evora, Ella Fitzgerald and Al Stewart among the others. I also got a good dose of sitcom like Seinfeld, Raymond, Are you being served?, Keeping up appearances, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and so much more. Between the webcam (with mom), the oven, the tele, gym and the home theatre, life couldn't have been better.

The near past

Got back to Bombay only to realise that I'd grown too used to the peace and pace of a small town to get adjusted to Bombay life. A job with another healthcare agency made me realise how I'd started to hate the travel, the traffic and client pressure.

The present

I decided to take on writing. Something that I'd always loved doing. The past months as a freelance health and food writer has taught me a lot. Business development, sticking to deadlines, interviewing people, making the right contacts and ofcourse finding the right showcases.

You can find me writing for

Aisles & Windows - Paramount Airways' inflight magazine

Chennai online- A health column called You are what you eat

Complete Wellbeing

Masala Times  - a South Asian community magazine

Men's Health - India Today Group magazine

My food blog - Saffron Trail

A group blog - Daily tiffin

The future

India is sprinting towards the title of Diabetic capital of the world. You can either prevent it or lead a healthy life with it. I'd like to write a diabetic-friendly book sometime in the future. A diabetic care blog seems to be the more possible project right now.

A cook book on 'healthy food in minutes' is also a part of the agenda. And hey if I could serve that in my own restaurant, that would be great too!

Since the 'Network with me' option doesn't work for me, if you think we have something in common, use the guest book or send me a PM and I shall get back to you.
