. Un Review
"Her paintings impart the intensity one feels in her presence. It's hard to think of the right adjectives. You know, the "bowls'-me-over" sort, are all ineffective. Intensity: effervescent, pure essence? Calenture? It's like: not having any good green chili stew for a long, long time – such a long time you've forgotten you'd ever tasted it. And then getting a bowl of hot, fresh green chili stew. Spicy and very, very tasty. With little surprise delights in each spoonful.
Yum.
But, I've already warned you about intensity. If you don't want to be stimulated if you don't want to think, stay away. It's art that's not just for art's sake, or often just for beauty's sake. It is stimulating; in my opinion, beautiful and lets your eye run through layers of thought and emotions. Mattison explores a wealth of themes along a host of avenues. And many of them can make you think."
. Pen Gwen
Art Critic Stepping Out Magazine New Mexico

"Fitzgerald's sculpture of glass and metal is hauntingly beautiful in its evocative reminder of the New York World Trade Towers. There is however, nothing sad in the sparkling blue of the crystalline shapes. Hope and regenerative, joy seems to break out of the caged structure. The many reflections from the glass suggests a modern infused silica cathedral,
Truly a statement, both contemporary and ancient."
. Robert Ellingsen Arts @ Half Moon Bay Host Commentator

How Does Your Garden Grow? Garden Design Consultation is designed for those who are planning on installing an entire garden estate or front and back garden.

The value of the consultation is 250.00. The Sunset Magazine & ryze.com discounted fee for inital consultation is 200.00 which is credited back to you when you contract your garden design.

You can begin making files and notes and saving photographs of ideas you like to us build a design file for them. You can also start to gather house plans, property plans and or have surveys completed before our first meeting. This will expedite the entire planning process.

After the consultation, how much do a set of garden plans cost?

It depends on the garden; the work we do is all very different for each individual client. We have gardens that are tiny city, town or urban condo gardens to huge park like estates.

Each garden is tailored to meet specific clients needs and site specifications. We have English, sculpture, modern, Asian, moon, evening, strawberry, fall, alien, arts, sculpture, kitty, doggy, dynamic, poker, purple, lightening bolt, you pretty much name a theme and we have done a garden to fit the owner and their idea.
A design proposal is provided at the consultation.

After the plans, how much does a garden cost?

Again, each garden is different. Money magazine says to expect to spend about 28 - 35% of the value of the home on a garden.

People wonder about the expense. Usually, we ask clients to look out in the driveway and see the expense parked there in autos. It is realistic to expect your garden, when done by professionals, to cost about the same as what is parked in your driveway, if not a little bit more.

Most of our garden work is in the Western Region of the United States, although we will travel anywhere for fun & creative projects. Your garden can either be turn key with a group like ours or for the do it yourselfers who just need a garden design plan.

Any consultation projects requiring travel to a destination more than two hours from our home office in the SF Bay Area, requires the client to cover staff time, travel, expenses and lodging costs. Upon scheduling a consultation references will be provided.

Remember gardens go Up in value and cars go down. Gardens are a far better investment and often if financed right can be written off on your taxes.

Life is short and gardens are to be enjoyed as they take time. We try but Mother Nature just takes time and we do not just boot her up. ;>

There are three things in life you should try to get right kids, gardens, and art. I think getting one or two of the three you are ahead of the crowd.

Thank you and have a great day in a creative space!

Arts 21st Century Rev

. Mattison Fitzgerald ~ Artist ~ Founded Arts 21st Century Revolution Network on ryze in memory of James Benoit (JB) the Eclectic Artist and gentle Beat on the road soul who took on greater artistic dimensions in art heaven this year.
http://arts21stcenturyrevolution-network.ryze.com/

. The Arts 21st Century Rev forum is to give arts
professionals, professional artists, arts enthusiasts, art collectors, community leaders in any capacity a place to discuss the promotion of the arts in society today.

As a founding members of the Art & Technology Society International in Silicon Valley we have seen an utter upsurge in the need for the arts to be a massive new major industry on the planet. We see the arts as the answer to the jobs question and the only solution to the dead end economics of military spending.

People need jobs and the arts are the answer. Arts dollars do not stock pile they are sifted through the community in many unsought of ways that support ancillary businesses like technology, the local market and the local hardware store.

We are all connected and responsible for building a world we want to live in. A peaceful place of creativity for all to share.

(Arts 21st C. Rev in memory of JB of who you can find mention of in Caroline Cassadys Book Off The Road with Jack Keroac & Neal Cassady. JB loved the races and used to hang with Neal in Monterey at the Laguna Secca as a kid. JB our own eclectic artist was a wee prankster at heart. At 14 he stole his Dads sports car ROADTRIP! Early, crashed it, took it home, parked it by a pole and told his Dad it simply rolled down the driveway and crashed into the pole. In the arts JB is famous for his annual series of block prints, his cooking, local jaunts into the cafe music scene in Saratoga and beyond and his amazing ability to do Bonsais up to 14' in scale. One of JB's photos occasionally appears on Mattisons ryze site in the middle of the page. It says How Does Your Garden Grow? JB at first did not want to shoot Mattison & the thistle weed but was pretty proud of the shot after it was printed and published cause it was " sorta Beat". We wish JB's creative spirit all the pranks he can pull in Art heaven! )

Thank you for your time and interest and have a great day in a creative space!

INTERNATIONAL ARTS BINNEAL IN MEXICO

The 2004 Art season kicks off with the International Arts Biennale in Mexico, Morelia. Luca Cruci, Italian Architect and Arts Biennale Juror for the Art Expo 2004, selected
Mattison Fitzgerald, an international honor, as one of the 77 artists. Fitzgerald is an artist from San Francisco and Silicon Schools of painting. Luca Curci calls Fitzgerald a "Five Star Artist".

Fitzgerlds non-representational triptych series of paintings in oil titled Fuerza de Flores Paz Power of the Flowers Peace‚ will be exhibited in February at the
Solaris Observatory in Mexico. Fitzgerald will donate a portion of the sale of this triptych to the Alexandra Chiles Foundation; an American Foundation that donates arts and craft kits to kids with terminal illness in pediatric hospitals.

Fitzgerald says, "As one of two Americans visual artists and seven video artists invited to the International Biennale Exhibition, I want to take a message of peace and healing to the international art market. I feel that American people have much to regain in the world and that most of the American people are for peace and against the wars. The rest of the world needs to be made aware. I see this as an opportunity to bring a Peace healing message to the world from America."

Fitzgerald's work has been included in the Washington D.C. archives of the National Museum of Women in Arts. Also, the International Biographical Center of Cambridge, England, recognized Fitzgerald as an "Outstanding Artist and Designer of the 20th Century.”
Pulsart, Fitzgerald & Raify's film on her painting, was the first film broadcasted on the Internet from the Cannes Film Festival in 1998. Among other museums in California, Fitzgerald has exhibited her work at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara. She has received awards from the Women’s Fund of Silicon Valley and the National Association of American Penn Women. Fitzgerald was the feature Artist on the Inaugural issue of TOPIA magazine and was published in Ashai Art Communications Journal on the 50th Anniversary of Hiroshima, Tokyo, Japan.

.ArtExpo.Mexico.04

Art History has shown that every new invention in communication creates its own unique subculture. Just like the shift from radio to TV, the evolution from traditional mail ("snail mail") to electronic mail ("email") signals the beginning of a new era in communications. This sudden immersion into contemporary culture covers every field, thus changing the role of the artist, and is further enriched by structural components, criticism and ideas.

This is the foundation of ArtExpo.Mexico.04, an artistic event that involves 77 international artists from Japan, UK, Canada, United States, Venezuela, Turkey, Korea, Mexico, Belgium, Macedonia, Germany, Spain, France, New Zealand, Poland, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Luxembourg, Malta, Romania and Italy. Painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and video installations: many possible routes to follow, many different artistic paths, which converge in the art of communication.

________Feeling Generous and Gifted___________

Alexandra Chiles Foundation Needs Your Support

_______Art & Craft kits to terminally ill kids_________

Hope you are well and have room to fill one need for the 2004 season. Maybe you and pick ACF as your 2004 Foundation of choice for donations this new year!
Many of you know how much I believe the arts can heal the planet. You also know the lifetime public mission I have been on to get the word out on the arts from healing to cyclic economics to job security to quality of life the following is another addition to the visions.

Please review the following and I hope you and your friends and business associates can help.

My former client and friend Anita Chiles is starting a not for profit. Anita has lost her only daughter to a rare blood cancer. In memoriam to Alex she has just gotten her 501c3 status for the Alexandra Chiles Foundation and can now begin public fundraising efforts.

The foundation will give art & craft kits to terminally ill kids in hospitals around the nation and most likely globe to help them pass the tedious time spent waiting. The mission of the foundation is to provide creative projects for children facing serious or life threatening illnesses while communicating community service to the groups with whom we work.

Already, 8000 kits have gone out already to Stanford, Ronald Mc Donald House, Oakland Children’s, UCSF Children’s Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, John Muir Hospital, Valley Medical and other Hospitals in Washington and Chicago. Also Camp Okizu a summer camp for kids with cancer have also received the kits. Requests are starting to come in from around the country and globe.

To date, Anita and Bob Chiles have solely supported all donations to the burgeoning needs at these hospitals. It is time we all reached out to help these creative kids get through a hard time.

Alex wrote for her college entrance application:
"Recognizing that each person has some tragedy in their lives, I have come to the understanding that it is important to do something with what you have learned from your experiences. Outreach to others in a situation similar situation to mine has become and important focus for me."

These craft kits and outreach ~ Alex's dream. The kits include beading projects, origami, hemp key chains, flag pins, lanyards, barrettes, leather chord necklaces, and headbands. Each gift is packaged by volunteers and signed with a gift card.

Little Donations Make Lots of Craft Kits
25.00 = 12 kits
50.00 = 25 kits
100.00 = 50 kits
200.00 = 100 kits
500.00 = 250 kits

I hope you all can find five minutes in your schedules to send a donation and also refer someone else to Anita who you think will help this mission.
