The totem pole and walrus gargoyle photographs were taken by my brother Peter Mark aka SeattlePhotoGuy (on ryze.com). They are part of a larger collection of pictures of the whimsical side of Seattle, a place which has been home for my brother for over 10 years. I have always been interested in the art and folklore of the native americans, and the totem pole was a great photograph to include on this page. My facination with the marine environment, including not only the open ocean but its inhabitants whales, walruses, seals, dolphins and polar bears continues from the time I was a teenager. When not traveling to Seattle to visit the orca whales, my work as a social worker continues to challenge my personal view of society and political activism. Whether working as a medical social worker or volunteering with my professional association, the goals of the social work profession continue to engage me. With the growth of the Internet, social workers can now connect internationally in a single chatroom. As a professional association, social workers are seeking ways to grow the profession and assist communities as they connect via the Internet, to expand their advocacy efforts and communication links.
