An active community member, Norman Eckenrode served as the Owner and Manager of Shakey’s Pizza in Brea, California, from 1986 to 2000. Norman Eckenrode has presided on regional government councils and associations during 26 of the past 39 years he has lived in Placentia, California. Norman Eckenrode strives to improve community relations in all aspects of life. Demonstrating deft leadership, Norman Eckenrode was elected to and served five terms as Mayor of Placentia. Prior to moving to the Placentia area, Norman Eckenrode worked for the Gulf Oil Company in Riverside, California, where he acted as liaison between the company and service station dealers and conducted marketing, training, and profit analysis. Norman Eckenrode subsequently joined West Bend Company. Norman Eckenrode accepted a position as Sales Supervisor in the greater Los Angeles area implementing marketing, advertising, and product demonstration activities. Norman Eckenrode assumed ownership of Shakey’s Pizza after 15 years of living in Placentia, overseeing all aspects of the business ranging from food service and personnel training to public relations and business management. Commencing his involvement in local politics soon after arriving in the area, Norman Eckenrode has spent the better part of three decades participating in government affairs. Norman Eckenrode’s government record includes roles as Vice Chairman of the Community, Housing, Economic Development Committee; Chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District, Planning, Design, and Construction Committee; and Executive Committee Member of the Southern California Association of Government. Campaigning for a position on the Placentia City Council, Norman Eckenrode enjoyed a solid base of support from the youth organizations to whom he has donated his time and resources. Norman Eckenrode has served on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scout Council of Orange County and the Nominating Committee of the Boy Scout Council of Orange County. Additionally, Norman Eckenrode coached youth soccer in the Junior United Soccer Association and played men’s soccer for the YMCA. Though he no longer serves as councilman, Norman Eckenrode maintains a political presence in his community via other organizations, such as the National Water Research Institute. Currently retired, Norman Eckenrode resides in Placentia with his wife of 44 years, Carole. He enjoys many school and sports activities with his eight grandchildren.
