hi, I've been on Ryze for three years now and it's changed my life in the best way. I began to write again :) I've written short stories, one act plays, vignettes, almost every form of poetry, something I had never imagined I could do. And better than that, I've made friends. Here you can never feel alone or lonely. Friends drop by to visit your page and leave sweet messages and smiles. Others read your work and leave comments and little words of praise and for improvement. When you get online you can participate in fun talk and serious discussions. It's amazing. I used to feel my days were already brimming with the joy and happiness with which children magically fill a teacher's life.I've realised that life has become even more satisfying ever since I began to write again. I am a school teacher who dreamed of teaching English Literature and ended up with Biology and Biotechnology! Now I have the advantage of having a 'scientific bent of mind' and a 'literary' heart :-) I did my schooling in Nainital, My post grad from Lko Univ and I work in one of the best schools of India La Martiniere Girls' College. Our main building is a REAL castle complete with a moat... reminds me of Malory Towers everytime I enter the building. The most interesting part of my job is being the school nature club advisor which gives me the chance to take children out on excursions and we've covered most of India...the whole of Utranchal, the deserts of Jaisalmer, the Western Ghats, Sikkim and Darjeeling, All of Rajasthan, Mumbai and Goa, Backwaters of Kerala and the beautiful Periyar Sanctuary, Trekking in Garhwal, the sea at Puri, Udupi, and Murudeswar, Nepal,the Rohtang pass, Nathula pass, Auli, and a lot more. When you're a school teacher you learn how to move on because children have that special natural knack of crossing hurdles, forgiving errors and bouncing back from the worst of disappointments. As their teacher you imbibe their simple philosophy. I think I have a good sense of humour and a warm nature that has won me a lot of friends. My dream is to live in the hills in a cottage by a lake with the view of the snow covered mountains from my window. I want to smell the fragrance of pine and listen to the hill sounds in the quiet of the night. Thats why I keep going back to the hills all the time I love children, I love the hills and I love animals. I love my computer and my car And I love making friends. THE STRAY KITTEN A stormy night, The lights went out, something made me listen.. A quiet scratching at my door, Good Heavens! Its a kitten! Scrawny, muddy, wet and limp No bigger than my palm. Oh !Take her in The little mite Can surely do no harm. She looked at me with liquid eyes That begged me to be kind, And so I let the kitten in As heart won over mind. She's turned my life upside down, My home and garden too.. "Love them, leave them, humans are mere tools" Thats kitty philosophy for you. Her feeding bowl must always be Piled with kitty fare.. And daren't I let anyone sit On her favourite arm chair. She's cunning, sly and smart As cats are meant to be, Yet a look or a purr can melt my heart 'Cos..This little bundle of fur.. Belongs to me... Or... do I belong to her? THE MAGIC OF THE HILLS The rocky paths, The slender trees, The gentle drizzle, The heavenly breeze. The ice cool water Of a mountain spring, The scent of rain, Making crickets sing. The shadow of pines On a windy night A grey rainy evening Then a day clear and bright. The breath taking view, Of the valley below, The heady pine fragrance, Wherever I go. The menacing height Of cliffs sheer and steep. The gentle slopes, The ravines so deep. Sweet little cottages On the hill slope Boundless beauty That fills me with hope The fog that hides, The view from my eyes, The snowcapped peaks, The glorious sunrise.
