Well, GSK is now part of the past. Averdyne LLC is now my focus, trying to figure out just what it will be... ;-) Mostly doing IT consulting work at this point while looking at what will take shape. Old bio is still here until I get something up for Averdyne. ---------------------------------------------- Ralph is the Head of eTechnology within eIT – a new IT function focused on the creation of I-Net Platforms for eBusiness. Ralph's team designs new services and products for eIT, matching customer requirements with technology solutions across all three eIT platforms - Intranet, Extranet, and Internet. He joined GlaxoSmithKline in November 1992, and has an extensive background in nearly all areas of Information Technology. During 2001, Ralph managed the team that developed GSK’s employee information portal – myGSK.com, creating a common vehicle for both corporate-wide and business-unit specific knowledge sharing. From 1999 through 2001, he managed the Intranet Management Center within GSK, providing a range of web services to a global audience including tools, training and support, and references to standards and best practice guidelines. From 1994 to 1999, Ralph led projects as a part of the team delivering the first web technologies to GSK. He developed one of the earliest tools to publish database content used outside of an academic setting, and co-developed a security mechanism for controlling access to such – helping to create a web application toolkit that was used over the next 6 years to create GSK’s Intranet. Ralph led several initiatives within GSK's R&D division from 1992 to 1994, including the creation of the Worker Data Backbone - an operational data warehouse, used by R&D applications to access corporate information. Ralph was an active member of the Data Administration Management Association, serving as an officer from 1992 to 1994. Prior to joining GSK, Ralph held positions at several companies involving IT management, strategy and architecture, application development, infrastructure, and support. Ralph earned his B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University where he was also a four-year letterman, finalist at the 1982 NCAA Rifle Championships, and an assistant coach from 1982 through 1988.
