THE STORY OF THE CREATION OF "THE MAGIC OF GAYATRI"
This is the story of a personal transformation and of a wonderful stress-busting CD for meditation, healing and achieving overall peace-of-mind.
I am a former industry manager, entrepreneur and venture capitalist who stepped back from my career when my wife was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in early 2001.
After my wife’s death in March 2005, I embarked on an amazing journey of healing and self-discovery. I became a certified hypnotherapist and started working with cancer patients in helping them deal with their difficult treatment options.
I also began to support an orphanage for blind children in Bangalore, India – The Rakum School for the Blind. There are 20 million blind children in India.
I became interested in other alternative healing modalities, especially those that involved sound and vibration.
In early 2007, collaborating with a well-known Bay Area based guitarist and recording artist Tomas Michaud, I began to record “The Magic of Gayatri”, a musical and descriptive journey with one of the oldest prayers known to humanity – The Gayatri Mantra. We were fortunate to attract Bikram Rajkumar, one of India’s foremost flute players to add his music to three tracks.
This CD – which takes me back to my Indian roots – has evolved into a must-have for yoga practitioners, spiritual seekers and anyone who is looking for a tool to help them achieve peace-of-mind in their everyday lives.

It has an amazing cumulative effect, not just on the individual but also on our collective consciousness. This is no surprise since millions of people have chanted the Gayatri for over three thousand years. From the beginning of this effort, I wanted this CD to be a vehicle for doing some good. Tomas Michaud and I are forwarding a third of the net proceeds to The Rakum School for the Blind in Bangalore. The sale of just one CD means that 6 to 8 meals can be provided for these orphans. The rest will go towards other causes and to creating more healing music of this genre. But I am also discovering something else.
Apparently, there is a secondary but equally important side benefit. I am getting heartfelt notes from people around the world as to how listening to the music is affecting their activities and their consciousness in a positive manner.
