Hey, there! I'm an attorney and hockey writer, on the cusp of finishing a Masters of Law in Dispute Resolution and wondering where I go from here. Back to law practice? Further into writing? Side-step into academia? I'm interested in improving our court system by bringing mediation to the 'user-friendly' courts where most parties are pro se (self-represented), such as Small Claims Court and Landlord/Tenant courts. That's a goal that's hard to meet without the approriate job title/support in the State Legislature, neither of which I have right now. I "work" from home, spend lots of time taking the Labrador out along the shores of Lake Erie, and am active in my church and in alumni organisations on different levels. My hockey column (Puckvoice) currently appears in a weekly alternative paper in Buffalo (Artvoice), and occasionally I co-host "The Greg Sterlace Show" on public access, which led to a role in "Ross and Gwen," a locally-produced indie film. I also support plenty of environmental endeavours, which justifies my dressing like a college student most of the time... hmmm... maybe I'll just work on implementing a recycling program at HSBC Arena... Did I mention I want to train therapy dogs and promote their use in Divorce Mediation? ...can't wait to see what's next... - Suzanne UPDATE - I side-stepped into owning a weekly newspaper! So many of my interests could be covered, I could open up an uncovered side of the news to the people of Buffalo, and I could continue writing about hockey during, um, the hockey lockout... Well, anyway, my partner and friend of 20 years ran the paper until I started checking the books. Turns out she got a little confused sometimes about which bank card she was pulling out of her wallet to pay for personal items... like her root canal... Neither of us could run the paper without the other, but God works in mysterious ways, and I was almost immediately call to nurse my 14-year companion (my labrador, Timber) through his ends days. Two weeks after he was gone, God put me and the entire staff of a local theatre at the same baseball game. They new Timber, asked what I was doing to keep myself busy, and I said, "Nothing. Do you need a stage manager?" Rehearsal started three weeks later, and I've come full circle back to my first career, working with the theatre company that instilled my love of theatre at age 6, the Theatre of Youth. Perfect :-) Sign in to be able to view staylor565's guestbook and friends list!
