Welcome to my page. You can't leave without saying hello on my guest book. If we don't know each other, leave a message and consider us new online friends. Below you will find a range of information about my personal and professional life, my dreams, personal philosophy on life, and a few other surprises. There is even a poem I wrote titled "SERENDIPITY" at the bottom that best articulates my personal philsophy on life. I am very excited to be here on the Ryze community for the past 5 years since it its inception. After going to school in Berkeley from 1992-96 [GO BEARS!], I was fortunate spend the last 10 years building innovative Internet companies and meeting so many interesting people in so many different places. If you lived in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, or San Francisco and attended networking events, went to Internet/Nanotechnology/Music related/Political/Science conferences, went to any latin/International/Hiphop/Underground parties in New York or San Francisco, hung out at Steps of Rome late at night we probably crossed paths. If we haven't crossed paths yet, just sign my guestbook or drop me a message. We will become online friends quickly. :) I love meeting new people with interesting backgrounds, especially those who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world. We probably already have a friend in common. So we are practically friends. If not, just drop me a note and tell me more about your dreams and ideas. Professionally, I am seasoned Technology and social Entrepreneur, investor, and startup CEO. The areas of expertise where I am focused on at the moment include new project incubation, online marketing, social networks, viral marketing, and user generated content. Over the past 11 years, some projects that I have been involved with as either a founder, CEO, board member, advisor or investor include Qool Media (top online auctions, loyalty solutions and direct marketing company), Freelotto (top sweepstakes & direct marketing company with almost 40 million users], FreeRazor [online marketing experiment with Gillette that reached 5 million visitors and 200,000 subscribers in first 12 weeks while testing project), MedSN (leading distance learning company in medical education. www.medsn.com), Collaborative Drug Discovery - CDD (online community for scientists to share research and collaborate on drug research to solve the world's worst diseases) Since I was a student at UC Berkeley, I spent the last 14 years developing a new social entrepreneurship model for creating capital markets around social problems. My life dreams and goals are related to this work. The work I am doing today as an entrepreneur are helping me gain the experience, resources, and contacts to put in place my social entrepreneurship innovations to improve the world we live on a global level. At the same time, at a local level, I spend my free time assisting social entrepreneurs and artists with incubating smaller scale social projects. I am a big believer that you must constantly be evaluating your experiences and reinventing yourself. In 2003, after 10 years as an entrepreneur and startup CEO in the Silicon Valley and New York, I moved to Brazil, where I spent 3 of the most dynamic and exciting years of my life exploring my interests in social entrepreneurship, politics, dance, arts, music, international trade, and more. In Brazil I had that chance to reinvent myself, learn new skills, meet thousands of interesting personalities, learn Portuguese, improve my dance skills, build personal relationships with Brazil's young political, social, financial, business, and entertainment leaders. If you have an innovative online consumer service or social networking application that is very viral and which has a unique subscription based revenue model and are looking for funding and incubation support, feel free to drop me a note with more information on your business. I am always looking to hear innovative ideas or meet very experienced people who are interested in joining one of our upcoming ventures. Outside new venture creation, I have been reinventing myself as a futurist with a strong focus on nanotechnology, stem cell research, synthetic biology, renewable energy, intelligent computing, cryonics, and genetic engineering. At this point, I find that my I am primarily just networking with scientists, policy makers, corporations, and other likeminded individuals who want to understand and help shape the future and contributing in academic thinktanks and gatherings. You will usually find me at random futurist and academic conferences and thinktanks around the world. In addition, I have recently been developing my talents as an artist writing poetry and lyrics for my artist friends who are singers. This is very new passion, but hopefully one or two of these songs will soon be available to purchase at your local music store thanks to my talented friends. I'll start to post some of my poetry here shortly. Finally, I current split my time between the New York/San Francisco and Rio de Janeiro/Sao Paulo. My current business venture is based in San Francisco and Sao Paulo. And by living in Brazil, I can continue to explore my passion for life, dancing, music, and for everything Brazilian. In particular, I love the history, music, language, food, dancing, and the overall sensuality of this culture. I welcome guests and invite any Ryzer to come by my place if you happen to be in Brazil. I am including a very important poem I wrote which is based on some of my personal philosophies. And also, there are my 7 simple rules to living my life. Who am I? A freespirited romantic and action-oriented dreamer living my life with passion, ambition, sincerity, integrity, freedom, serendipity, and a mission to change the world in small and very big ways. An entrepreneur, social activist, futurist, historian, social observer, artist, socialite, ambassador, and intellectual. My 7 simple rules that guide me through my life 1) Live life like a romantic adventure and have a cause 2) Treat everybody the way you want to be treated. 3) Be passionate about everything you do 4) Live each day like there is no tomorrow 5) Dream big and act on your dreams, even if the path is unclear. 6) Eat well, sleep well, and work in a job you love 7) Smile a lot and trust strangers as friends until they give you a reason not to trust them. Finally, here is a poem that I wrote which best sums up my life philosophy and how I live my life. Serendipity Appreciating the Beauty of the things we can’t explain. I don’t want to understand it, I just want to live it. To go to sleep with confusion and wake up with the clarity which could only come from doing nothing. Realizing that when you stop trying to solve the problem, the problem solves itself. I don’t want to understand it, I just want to live it. Jesus, Allah, Spirits, Guardian Angels, celestial energy, chaos theory, or fate. Call it what you want to. I am just going to keep walking forward and let nature show me the way. Whatever door is open in front of me, I will enter it. I don’t want to understand it, I just want to live it. She... enters your life in the strange moment when you least expect it and turns your life upside down. She... solves the problem when there is no solution. She... flirts with your magination and tries to explain life’s mysteries. Let this love affair with her unravel and let her passion consume me. She... is the beauty of the things we can’t explain.
