|
It is not easy to write about oneself.
I have just lain to rest the dilemma of describing one's past and present and to word it well so as to hold interest. A "marooned driftwood" is the expression which can best describe me. While in school Science interested me. The last two years in school saw me excel as a cricketer. I have played alongside and against some of the best known players on the Delhi circuit then. Sports took a toll on my grades. My Father wanted me to be either a Doctor or an Engineer as was the trend then. Thankfully, he understood that those professions did not interest me anymore. I went on to complete my graduation in Psychology. Thereafter, without any particular mission in life, I enrolled myself for a Degree in Law. Slowly, Law as a subject grew on me. When I started my Law practice, Law was merely a poor step-child compared to other professions. Today, it has become more glamorous and lucrative. More and more parents are encouraging their wards to opt for Law as a profession. Presently, I am one of the persons heading a twentyfive member full service Law Firm based out of New Delhi. |

About family
My nuclear family comprises of me, my wife Ritu and my twins, Tushar and Tarangini. My wife is also a Law graduate and has actively practiced Law till 1999. 
Tushar and Tarangini were born on the Millenium Day, i.e., 1st of January, 2000. Believe me, contrary to all those talks about comfort, it is not easy to tend to twins, particularly if they have absolutely opposite tastes.

My journey on Ryze
I joined Ryze in January, 2004. That was when I was undergoing a phase, when due to some personal reasons, I had started becoming a recluse, an introvert. That was the last thing I wanted to become. As if in answer to my prayers, Ryze came by. I started interacting with Ryzers and then there was no looking back. Today, I interact with Ryzers more through mediums other than Ryze. My Ryze friends have given me enough reasons to recommend this portal to all. Of course, there have been many bitter experiences, but then the better ones always outnumbered the bitter ones.

Ghazal aur Kavitaayein
Call it a vent or a digression, somewhere in late 2004 I rediscovered my interest for the written word. Since I was not born or brought up in an oh-so-propah English atmosphere, I concentrated on Hindi and Urdu to carry across my message. I was part of the Aap ka Nazrana network on Ryze till February, 2006. My Hindi/Urdu poems have been uploaded on a Blog I have named ehsaas ki lakiirein |

My attempts at English writing and other riff-raffs
I started dabbling in English poetry in January, 2005. It was more of an ego issue. In one of my first Caferati Read Meets, I naively took with me an Urdu Ghazal. I was asked to bring a translation next time, if I wish to read any vernacular ones. With a vengeance I took to writing in English. Along the route I have learnt and am still learning.
I am fluent in Malayalam, my mother tongue. I am proud of the fact that I can read, write and speak my mother tongue. Though I have never tried writing in Malayalam, I do try and transcreate Malayalam poetry which interests me. I have also tried transcreating Tamil, Hindi and Urdu poetry.
