Hi Vinod,
There is a company called Cingari (based out of Delhi, owned by Chetan Seth) who has tied up with Habanos (Cuban Govt's cigar export co) to distribute it's cigars in India.
They in turn have tied up with many five star hotels & high end bars to retail their cigars.
Your best bet is to buy your cigars from the bars of the Oberoi hotels in India. They also sell by the box, cigars are well humidified & prices are comparable to european standards :-))
Cingari also has a nice store of the same name in The Oberoi (New Delhi), which is worth checking out!
Would be happy to meet with you while you are in Mumbai to share a fine cuban, if you have time :-)
take care,
Akhil

Hi Monk,
I am not too familiar with Kerala & HP. However, there is a good cigar shop called "Coronation Cigars" in South Mumbai which sells some Trichy cigars.
Brands you may like: London Calling, Piccolo, Black Tiger.
unfortunately trichy cigars are quite harsh (like cheaper honduran cigars) & are not too well packed.
however, they are smokable & VERY cheap :-))
PM me if you need more info.
take care,
Akhil

just FYI, Indian Tabac is actually owned by an Indian ex-lawyer called Rocky Patel, who chucked up his job 8 years ago to follow his dream.
Something I would love to do, if I had as much put away as a lawyer :-))

Hi Stuart,
welcome onboard!
interesting to know about Filipino cigars. Do you know of any online cigar retailers that provide them?

I agree with Akhil. I recently bought a box or was it a bundle from Cigars International in Pennsylvania. I think that's who I dealt with but can't recall. (I'm at work so cannot check my records.) Anyway they are Indian Tabac at a considerable discount, banded. Pretty good. I've smoked a half dozen and given a few away. I don't think they are horrible or a waste of money. While not my favorites they are quite tasty and a smooth smoke. Perhaps you received a bad, plugged or stale lot? It happens. I've had Indian Tabac from time to time over the years and they are not bad at all IMHO.

Hi Tim,
Surprisingly Indian Tabac had got some good taste ratings from Cigar Aficionado magazine recently.
What did you find wrong with them? or do you feel you were unlucky enough to land up with a bad box?
I recently had almost half a box of Hoyo de Monterrey cigars turn out to be 'plugged' & almost unsmokable. usually they are quite nice
take care,

Hi Akhil, grt string sorry for being non active on Cigar board...but I agree abt Trichy Cigars...trust me they are the best and unfortunately they have not been able to focus or pacakging and marketing otherwise they wud have been well accepted Cigars...
During the British regime the Brit officers/lords use to call Cigars customade for them from Trichy and they are still alive....we must look at this as a serious opportunity and ideally market them....if Sula Wines can be sold in Wine Bar in France trust me ur London Calling can be sold too...

I was introduced to these by a friend. They are pretty good.

A Havana-seed, mixed-filled, mild-to-medium-bodied cigar from Tabacos Rancho Jamastran of Danli, Honduras. It is extremely well-constructed and very flavorful, making it an excellent value - and one of the best-selling handmade, mixed-filler cigars for about 30 years...

Hi all,
Most of us are familiar with the great cuban & dominican brands.
however, there are many lesser known cigars out there which taste great & don't have a premiun brand name cost.
Was wondering if any of you could share the names of some of your unknown favourites.
I'll kick this off by mentioning a little known cigar made in SOUTH INDIA (in Trichinopoly) called "London Calling". They taste great although they are not wrapped well & are not sold outside the country.

I like the same. This is my favorite: Maria Mancini. But if I'm smoking a quick one at lunch, I prefer something small like a Don Diego Baby.

Hello to all my fellow cigar aficionados out there, I live in Waterloo ON, Canada which means I regular access to cuban cigars which are my favourite smoke. For most times when I get to smoke (poker night with the boys) I stick to Montecristo No. 2 (Torpedo). But I love nothiing more on a nice summer night then sitting outside by a fire with a bottle of good single malt scotch (like a lagavulin or Laphraig) and a wonderful Romeo y Julieta Churchill. Thats 2.5 hours of self enjoyed pleasure.

Hi Joshua,
I recently purchased a tin of cigarello sized Davidoff Exquisitos. They were handmade with long filler & very nice complex taste considering the size.
you may want to check them out!
Take care,
