04/26/05re: My Idea for Crafters to self promote #

Corine Hardman

Hey Buffy:
Go one further - adult education classes in the different suburbs. I did jewerly classes with femo and such. I did that when I had my ceramic store. One night's class paid the rent on my storefront. Plus it brought in customers to see what else I had.

04/22/05What I've been up to #

Olive Dyck

I've been pretty busy these past few months, especially these past few weeks. I've been working together with my DH on my website. It's almost totally up - there are a few pages that still are not functioning yet, but hopefully in the next week or two.

I've also been participating in my first trade show. It's an online show (started Wed evening, and will be over Mon evening), and you can check out my work, as well as that of other designers at http://www.theneedleworkshow.com. Take care,

Hi everybody. I'm not exactly a new ryze member, more like one who has been really busy lately with spring craft shows etc. but I'm trying to get back on track again.

I wanted to pass along an idea for you to promote your craft businesses. Contact any junior colleges, colleges or universities in your area that have a continuing education program about teaching a class or two related to your particular craft.

I was approached by someone at my local university and will be teaching 4, 3-day sessions starting this summer on aromatherapy and natural soap making. Not only is this a great opportunity for me to promote my business, it's going to just be a blast! And somebody's even going to PAY me to stand up there and yak then show people how fun it is to make soap!

I really think that this is a little marketing niche that has been overlooked but has great potential to anyone who would enjoy teaching others about their favorite crafts. I know that I'm very excited about it and thought that I'd pass along all my new "accidental wisdom".

I'll keep you posted on how it all comes out.

Hey there, sorry it took so long to reply. I am always in and out of ryze and never set at one direction..lol

I would love to chat with you. It is always good to toss ideas around. That is what brain storming is all about.
If you here yourself say the idea or direction it often triggers another idea. The hard thing is typing your idea it is just never the same. So if you want to set up a time for me to call, I'd be more than happy to get to know you and mind dance with you. Heck you probably will even help me..lol

We experimented with this years ago too. We did apply a clear coat and it prolonged the life of the object by years. There maybe a product out there now specifically for this. Olive, As you know I am new to all this computer business stuff. But luckily, I have found several places that were eager to place my business into their directories for no charge. So that helps. I'm just waiting to get my first order for my whimsey wonders decor store referral from the search modes so I know it really works. Links to you is what really did the biggest assisting. There's a little leg work on the keyboard, but it does work.

Hello Lorraine, Thank you for the compliment. I really wish there was another way to have direct contact by emails.
I am trying hard to get three different internet businesses going so I can get some income coming in.
Starting over alone is never easy. While going through so many changes in ones life all at once.
Lorraine I'd love to see what it is you do. How can I contact you?

Thank you Lorraine. Things are moving along for me. The last few weeks have been quite busy getting everything ready. I dropped off my first 4 patterns at the printers on Monday. I'm waiting to get back 2 stitched models, and then I can send those patterns to the printer as well. I'm not sure they will quite be ready for the show, but I'm hopeful. I really wanted to go to my first show with 6 patterns ready, but there really isn't much I can do if they are not ready. I'm probably just getting over anxious.
