This network is meant to help develop an idea. We start by thinking about the criteria we have as individuals for our elected officials when we vote for them. Now think about the criteria a CEO would have when picking his top level executive staff. The CEO has an agenda to make sure they pick the most qualified people for the job. We, on the other hand, don't have that kind of responsibility. Or do we? To what lengths should we be willing to go, as an electorate, in order to find out exactly how qualified our elected officials really are before we elect them?

This network will hopefully begin to develop the idea of a "Political Assessment Test". The test would ask relevant, topical questions in order to assess a candidate's current understanding of the types of problems he/she will encounter as a politician. Kind of like an SAT or LSAT. These tests are universally recognized for their ability to assess individuals based on their merits and not on their popularity. How well does he/she understand the current issues that face our country/state/region/city ? Do they understand the laws that are currently on the books, and to what depth do they understand the issues those laws were created to regulate?

The more I think of this problem of coming up with a simple, yet comprehensive way we as an electorate could assess a political candidate's merits, the more I like the solution of a "political assessment test".

Thanks ahead of time for your comments and consideration.
