When we are motivated by compassion, we offer kindness as a way of life. We offer change to the child in line at the movies who doesn't have quite enough money for popcorn; we mow the lawn of our elderly neighbor. We refrain from lashing out at the person who lashes out at us. Living in compassion means we begin to put the welfare of others ahead of our own individual egos. Living in compassion makes us part of the energy that we call God. Through compassion, we participate in our own miracles. Mary Manin Morrissey
