Videophones?
I worked with pretty cool videophones (T-View) http://www.telekom.de/etelco/downloads_navi/1,18139,624_569_229-1,00.html from Deutsche Telekom in the late 1990s. The phones were nicely built and worked fine using the ISDN network. Unfortunately you could only call someone who also had a T-View-Phone or any other ISDN-based H.232 Videophones, which was basically nobody.
Also, you don't really want to see your counterpart.
Therefore I don't think videophones will ever become popular enough.
