Sep 02, 2004 12:46 pm Sales Tax Laws In Ohio Are Changing
Tina Boyd
Has anyone heard about the new sales tax laws that go into affect July of next year? One of my clients just mentioned it to me, as I am developing an e-commerce site for him. Apparently tax percentages vary from county to county in Ohio, and taxes are no longer going to be charged based on your location in the state, but instead, on the location you're providing to. The paperwork I recieved on it went on to say that within the counties there are different taxes depending on whether or not the area is affected by the COTA tax. Apparently we are going to have to charge based on zip code.

This doesn't affect my business, because much research has shown that internet web developers are not yet required to charge sales tax. It does, however, affect how I must develop e-commerce sites in the future.

How are you handling this within your business arena?
