First, I should note that I’ve always pronounced ‘blog’ as one syllable, and I’ve never heard it pronounce ‘B-log’. That is in part, I believe, because ‘blog’ is a shortening of ‘weblog’.

I currently have quite a few different blogs. Some of them, such as the ones I have on Blogger, LiveJournal and Xanga, I have primarily to test their software and the be able to authenticate into their systems.

I write for some blogs for specific purposes, such as Greater Democracy where I put most of my political writing, or my Ecademy blog, where I put more of my business oriented material.

One person asked, "How can we get a good feel for who you are if you have multiple blogs? Are you schizophrenic?" I think it is useful to look at this in terms of face-to-face communications. I often talk about how ‘persona is a function of context’. People who see me in a business meeting, at a political rally, church, or at a social gathering, get different views of who I am. Those who know me in different contexts get a fuller understanding of who I am. There is nothing schizophrenic about that.

What I have ended up doing is trying to gather as much of my writings for various blogs, and other venues and consolidate them into my primary blog, Orient Lodge

Currently, I usually cut and paste articles from one source into Orient Lodge. However, in some cases, there are tools that use various APIs to post to multiple blogs at the same time, and I’ve used this from time to time. However, as a general rule, I like to modify my entries a little bit from blog to blog to adjust for the context of the blog.

On the other hand, I’ve been doing a bit of surfing on BlogExplosion, which, as an aside, I highly recommend. I’ve notice various people there who have multiple blogs, and I find their listing of their multiple blogs there somewhat annoying and I tend to read their blogs less closely because of that. For me, I only list Orient Lodge on BlogExplosion.

I hope you find these comments helpful.
