Mihir is right to a large extent. As a headhunter, I use networking as a tool to get to the right candidate. However, if it were to be used the other way around...to look for jobs...its not as effective. Simply because it all depends on the number of people who see your posting.
If you are looking for a job the best way would be to target appropriate consultants. An important thing to remember is that each consultant has a specialty area they work in...it could be industry or functional. You would need to know which consultants are the right people to speak to.
You could also do some bit of headhunting yourself by finding out the HR people in the companies you are interested in. And then you can send them your cv. Thats a more direct approach likely to yield better results.
Of course newspaper adverts and job portals are always available.
I have had an instance where I found my candidate on a flight. He was sitting right next to me and we got around chatting and I interviewed him right there. That happens too.Private Reply to Nikhil Mathur (new win) |
