Byepassing merit and getting admission thru 'donation' by the rich is as inadmissible as the caste based reservation. But the rich are not confined to the forward castes alone.Though statisticsare not available to support my staement I have the gut feeling that what I said is right There is another angle to it.We are fighting agaist the institutions of excellence, named as such by the visionaries, ought not be subjected to the reservation malice.Though in principle caste should have no place in the scheme of things in Education,it should be particularly excluded in IIMs IITs and similar prestigious institutions where the admission should be only on merit irrespective of caste If the reservation is contemplated because the OBCs can not get in thru merit the Govt itself has to be blamed.Except the well to do others can not afford good schools run by the private sector. The schools run by the Govt present a pitiable state of affairs in terms of infrastructure, teacher strenghth or more importantly in teacher quality as the teachers got the jobs not on their merit but on reservation or as a result of the favouritism and nepotism. To expect any thing better than mediocre education Implement the reservation and kiss quality education good bye S.RamaswamyPrivate Reply to Ramaswamy Sundararajan (new win) |
