Jun 29, 2004 1:07 am A way I have successfully promoted the relase of my upcoming debut novel
Brian Palmer
I'm a first-time author who is still learning the ins and outs of publishing. I must say it has been an interesting ride--promotion is not something I am very experienced with, so it is encouraging to report how exciting all of this has been as I've learned one thing or another.

Perhaps the most effective bit of self-promoting I have done aside from telling folks at my job, church and alma mater, as well as friends and family all over North America, is taking the first chapter of my nvel and placing it on the Writing.com website and then plugging it like the dickens everywhere I go. In about four-and-a-half months, the excerpt has been viewed ~740 times and has already garnered 55 reviews. It has helped to create a lot of favorable buzz, and some folks have requested to review the entire book onthe site once it has been released and they have been able to read it. Engaging in as much of that online community (which has over 50,000 active members) as possible has done a lot for my ability to get the word out about y book to a broader audience.

Just my two cents.

Oh yeah, and since I am new to this group, this is my way of saying hello. ;) I hope you are all well today.

In Christ,
Brian
