Dec 04, 2003 8:46 pm Using Color in Your Layouts
Candyce Fulford
The colors you use in your scrapbook layout add to the 'story' of your memory.

When you are contemplating which colors to use to create a mood, keep a few tips in mind:

Try to use the 'main color' at least three times in the layout. Use various shades and tints of the main color.

For example, use a muted, or pale hue of the main color for the background paper, and increase the strength of the color to include it in the photo frames or in the text.
This emphasizes the harmony and it won't jangle the nerves of the viewer.

Strong hues of red, yellow and orange tend to grab the eye and shout to the world 'look at me first'! The eye is directed straight to these colors, so be careful in their use.

Imagine a rolling pasture. The colors are the green of the grasses and the blue of the sky. They add to the calmness of your scrapbook layout.

Pinks can range from the softness of 'baby pink' to fiery 'hot pink'. Remember the more intense a color is, the more energetic it becomes.

Color, when used correctly. helps tell the story and enhance the memory for both the creator and the viewer of the scrapbook.
