JFL, Ever seen a collision with a Toyota Yaris and a Chevy Suburban or a H1 Hummer? Say it's a head on. Which vehicle would you like to be in?
You're asking to have a smaller engine than a Yaris or Echo? That might be okay if the rule of the road was all cars must be of similar mass. However, someone always breaks the rule.
Your battery charge time calculation is off. It's less than 6.5 hr. You did not account for volt difference of AC in you home to DC voltage of the battery. Nor charge efficiency of the type of battery. There is a big difference between a Li-Ion PO and Lead Acid battery and how they take a charge.
