I've worked for an Internet company for quite a few years, one company dealing with dial up, and the current one with Cable.
I can say from experience more people are moving from dial up to Broadband then ever before, at least here in the USA.

I do tend to agree that many people have no clue at the power they have at their fingertips with the Internet. It is amazing the things you can research online. Recently I was chatting with a friend online, and I suggested she get really studied up on a product that she wants to market. She asked me "how"? My goodness, "the world is at your fingertips" was my reply.
