My mom will soon be 75 and doesn't want to get internet access in the house (shared with my brother, who takes care of her, he's in his 40's and wants internet access at home). Despite this, she calls me on a regular basis to look up numbers and she just loves what I can find for her on infospace.com

She is often trying to connect with former classmates or their spouses (who usually have bad news that her pal has passed). Nevertheless she loves it when I can help her reconnect!

Just yesterday my brother called, wanting me to go online to order a calendar for him. When they asked for an e-mail address he gave me one! Seems he has access to a computer where he takes classes!

Mom is always begging me to send photos to my brother's girlfriend, so she can print them out for mom. I can't afford to visit often and when I do I bring a CD and a laptop so she can enjoy the photos of family and friends. Dad enjoyed it very much, before he died of Parkinson's in January 2005.

So even though mome doesn't have internet access or know how to use a computer, the seed has been planted and I can't wait to see how it grows.

Eventually she will be the Adminstrator of some family tree websites. She will then have access to distant family, photos and people around the globe. She is a great typist and she's going to have a ball once she gets cataract surgery and can see well enough to use a computer. Sounds like a good post surgery present! With a host of family who made it past 90, she has a lot of living left do to!
