Some more good news about tea... |

Hi all TWN members,
Lately, I've been reading some good news about tea almost weekly. I recently read an article about the fact that green and black tea are both excellent for its ability to "scrub" arteries clear of plaque. If I can find the piece again, I'll post it here.
In the meantime, read this piece about tea and another very healthful food:
Study: Tea, Yogurt Make Good Mates Monday, 08 December 2008 Researchers in Tunisia and France have found that tea can be added to yogurt without diminishing the beneficial properties of either the tea or the yogurt. The team – comprised of scientists at institutions in Tunis and Sidi Thabet, Tunisia, as well as Gradignan, France – set out to study the effect tea would have on the fermentation and survival of the micro-organisms in yogurt. They added green and black teas to fermented milk and watched what happened for 42 days.
According to an abstract of the test results, "the presence of tea did not significantly (P<0.05) influence the yogurt characteristic micro-organisms." What's more, the bacteria in the yogurt didn't affect the catechins in the tea.
Hence, the team concluded, "addition of teas or tea catechins to yogurt can be recommended to take advantage of their beneficial properties on human health attributed to their antioxidant and antimicrobial activities."
The results of the study are published in the scientific journal Food Chemistry.
Hope you're all well and drinking plenty of tea. :-)
Warm regards,
