05/11/07World Renowned Scientist Dr. Ann de Wees Allen Joins Agel #

Lajon Webb

PRESS RELEASE
April 20, 2007
World Renowned Scientist Dr. Ann de Wees Allen Joins Agel

Agel is pleased to announce that renowned scientist Dr. Ann de Wees Allen, Chief of Biomedical Research at the Glycemic Research Institute, has joined the Agel Team. Dr. Allen and Agel Enterprises will be introducing products that incorporate Dr. Allen’s Larginine patents and Agel’s cutting edge “Suspension Gel Technology”.

Dr. Allen has been researching and patenting safe forms of L-arginine since 1983, and currently has the only technology for creating Blind Amino Acid Riders for L-arginine. Dr. Allen also received the first glycemic patent ever awarded worldwide.

Agel began operations in 2005 and has announced business operations in 43 countries. “Our Suspension Gel Technology combined with Dr. Allen’s products will open a whole new vista of opportunity for Agel Team Members globally”, said Glen Jensen, Agel CEO and founder.

Because this opportunity has presented itself so quickly, Agel has not had time to develop a product that combines Dr. Allen’s patented L-arginine and Agel’s suspension gel. For this reason, Agel will begin offering Dr. Allen’s L-arginine as a powder in order to fill present product demand while it develops a gel based product to replace the powder.

Once the gel based product is finished development, it will be available to team members worldwide. Dr. Allen stated, “I am thrilled to be working with Agel. Together, we will make a real difference in the field of nutrition and anti-aging.”

Dr. Allen will also serve as Head of the Medical Advisory Board at Agel.

A list of Dr. Allen’s Bio and patents can be seen at:

Did you know, the most powerful antioxidant isn’t in a berry, a fruit,a drink or gel? It’s actually in your body! It’s called glutathione or GSH and every cell in your body requires an adequate supply of GSH to function and to stay healthy.

Did you know Glutathione is the most powerful, prevalent antioxidant in your body? Increasing your glutathione level will naturally increase your energy, detoxify your body and strengthen your immune system.

It’s pointless to purchase supplements that merely contain glutathione because the digestive system breaks down ingested glutathione not allowing it to be absorbed into your system. On the other hand, MAXGXL™ provides the proper nutrients needed to promote the body’s own ability to manufacture and absorb glutathione. MAX GXL™ also aids in liver support by destroying environmental poisons helping the liver to function as the main production site and storehouse for glutathione.

02/24/07Choose Xocai Chocolate for a Healthy Mouth #

Kandi Pruitt

Hi all,

Did you know that Xocai (the healthy chocolate) can reduce the risk of cavities and improve oral health?

Definitive research has demonstrated various links between poor oral health and systemic conditions such as diabetes, respiratory diseases - particularly among elderly people - heart disease and premature, low birth-weight babies. And while science is still examining the links between oral health and general health, oral disease is a source of chronic pain and a variety of other problems, including cavities, gum disease, gingivitis, periodontal disease, tooth loss, bad breath and oral cancer.

It appears that chronic infections of the mouth lead to elevated levels of inflammation in the body, particularly the bloodstream. Other research suggests that infections of the heart valves and inflammation of the heart blood vessels are closely related to the extent of conditions present in the mouth. By reducing the number of bacteria in the mouth, one also reduces the risk of other health conditions throughout the body.

Xocai, healthy chocolate made from unprocessed, raw cocoa, acai berries, and agave nectar, can help you to better dental health! Because Xocai is cold pressed (never heated), it retains 100% of the nutrient and antioxidant value, so the polyphenols, flavanoids, and tannins inherent in chocolate are able to restrict the activity of bateria in the mouth and help prevent carries, reduce or eliminate gum disease, relieve bleeding gums, reverse clefts, and also eliminate bad breath.

Dentists and oral hygenists are very excited about this product and are using it to help their patients to better overall health! For myself, I just had a checkup this past week and my "pockets" (the space between the teeth and gums, which should be "3" or less to be considered healthy) were "2 or below"! And, I had NO pain during the cleaning or exam, and NO bleeding. This was amazing to me because I have always had sensitive teeth - I know it was Xocai because I have not changed anything else in my diet or lifestyle.

For more information, please contact me or refer to my website www.mychocolateforlife.com and let me send you a sample!

Thanks for letting me share, and please give me your comments and/or questions - have a great weekend!

02/15/07Anti-aging and beating cancer #

Tony Isaacs

Good stuff Randy - can I assume that you like whey?

Since part of anti-aging involves warding off and beating diseases such as cancer, I just have to pass this information along:

A couple of years ago, after spending countless hours researching alternative remedies and treatments for cancer, I ended up writing an e-book titled "Cancer's Natural Enemy" which, among other things, details the history of the medical use of the plant oleander dating back 3500 years to the ancient Babylonians, the re-discovery of a centuries old oleander cancer remedy by Doctor H. Z. Ozel in Turkey in 1966, the past 40 years of medical use of oleander outside the U.S. and the patenting of an oleander extract named Anvirzel and subsequent passing of FDA phase I trials. My book goes on to tell of a home version of the medicine and how it can be made, and has been used by thousands of people around the world with great success against not only cancer, but also hepatitis-C, psoriasis, diabetes and even HIV/AIDS. The instructions for making this remedy are posted freely on my Yahoo group site "oleandersoup".

Due to my research, my book and my activities in forums I know a number of people where were given hopeless diagnoses by their oncologists, yet are now alive, healthy and cancer free after using either the patented medicine form of oleander extract or the virtually identical home remedy, which can be made about as easily as a large pot of beans.

One of the many people I met and became friends with in the past few years is a noted South African HIV/AIDS and cancer crusader and researcher by the name of Marc Swanapoel. Marc devised two similar botanical supplements which consisted of 80% oleander extract made exactly according to the oleander soup instructions. The supplement for HIV/AIDS added extracts of agaricus blazei murrill mushroom extract, cats claw, pau de arco, while the supplement for cancer substituted the relatively rare chrysobalanus icaco (red-tipped coco plum) for the pau de arco.

(It might be noted that all of those items are listed in the "Anti-Cancer Protocol" chapter of my book, which also includes such powerful cancer fighters and immune boosters as colloidal silver and mutumba.)

Last week, I asked Marc how the patients in South Africa were faring and he reported that "Everything still ok here and cancer patients as well as HIV patients on the oleander mix are doing well.

The medical doctor in Cape Town who is using the mix for all his cancer patients has continued to have good results. The oncologist where he sends his patients to (a woman) was so impressed with the results that she is now using it herself for prevention.

. . . to date, the only patients that did NOT make it on the oleander mix were three patients with very advanced cancer that had metastasized to the liver and who had been on intensive chemo treatments. In my opinion, the effect of the chemo on the and liver and heart eventually led to failure of those organs."

Needless to say, I was very impressed with the news, but after thinking about it, I had to wonder "3 patients out of how many did not make it" to try to get a better perspective, and so I asked Marc in a follow up message and the response I received astounded me!

Just when I thought, based on my research and first hand experience with oleander users including friends and members of my own family, I got this incredible message:

"Hi Tony,

Approximately 350 HIV/AIDS patients have used it and about 80 cancer patients on a regular basis. Of the cancer patients, 5 arrived when they had about a week to 10 days to live and they were too weak to keep the mix down. They died without really being able to try the mix. 3 (the ones I mentioned to you) died of liver and heart failure. All the others are still alive, some now for nearly three years. One Breast Cancer patient who was given a few months to live eventually became the patient of the oncologist who is now also using the mix. She was declared free of cancer by the oncologist approximately 1 year ago and is still doing well. Others used it for a few months until their cancers were gone and we have not heard from them again. One patient with a festering hole of 1cm diameter on his nose (about half a cm deep) have been using it for three months after doctors were unable to cure the tumour with radiation. The hole is now half the size and not festering anymore. It should be healed in about 3 - 6 months. The doctor in Cape Town whose own wife had metastasized cancer to the bones, is now cancer free. She has been on overseas trips and lives a normal life.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to keep track of all the patients. They just collect the mix from me and phone me from time to time to say that they are doing well. It also seems to help for asthma, male impotence and diabetes. One advanced MS patient have now used it for 2 months and is reporting that it seems to help for the pain in her legs. All the distribution is happening by word of mouth and I don't advertise at all. I have had orders from the UK from people who had heard about the successes in South Africa. A documentary maker there was filming the progress of his wife on a weekly basis but, unfortunately, she was one of the liver complications. He still believes very firmly that the mix gave his wife an extra 5 months of high quality life."

Pretty amazing wouldn't you agree?

Live long, live healthy, live happy!

02/14/07The Doctors are speaking out about ACAI. #

Christel Agnes

Hello Friends

Dr. Nicholas Perricone...
"Studies have shown that this little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world!"
Julian Whitaker, M.D., Founder of The Whitaker Wellness Institute...
"Fruit juice has never been high on my list of recommended foods. No matter how natural it is, it contains too much concentrated sugar. One type of juice, however, merits a big thumbs-up: ACAI. Juice from the small, dark acai berries of the Euterpe olerance palm has been used for centuries in the Amazon rain forest to increase strength and stamina. Acai is loaded with anthocyanins, known for their beneficial effects on the eyes, blood vessels, connective tissues, and nervous system. In fact, acai contains more antioxidant-rich anthocyanins than cranberries, red wine, and grapes. (Acai's ORAC value is more than 6,000.)

Dr. Scott Crafton...
"I've been drinking Acai berry juice ever since I discovered the importance of it's properties. I've been using it for about a year now. I've noticed I have a lot more energy than I use to have. Also, I don't seem to get sick."

Dr. Katherine Crafton...
"We share Acai with our patients and we've seen a lot of weight lost. They're getting better nutrition, and when your body gets better nutrition, it craves fewer things. We've also heard a lot of reports about increased energy and stamina."

Dr. Barnett Meltzer...
"I've shared Acai with my patients and I see them improving their attitude, their mood and their health. When people start taking it, they not only feel better, their attitude improves, their brain chemistry improves, and their mood improves. So I see it as kind of a super-food because of it's physical effects on the immune system, and it's mental and emotional effects in improving attitude and mood."

Living a healthy life is my personal passion.

Some nice posts here - I especially liked the "expose" posted by Rob Hopkins!

IHMO, the best approach to anti-aging is to first take back the years that bad diet and lifestyle, as well as contamininants, may other wise cost you. Once you have done that, you can indeed add healthy years to your life.

That means first cleansing your body of the toxins that have built up. To do this will require good liver, colon and blood cleanses - including chelation to remove the heavy metal deposits.

Next, begin replacing bad nutrition and bad habits with good ones. A great start is a healthy diet that eliminates fast foods and processed foods on our grocers shelves and replaces them with as much of the natural diet our ancestors evolved to consume eons ago - plenty of fresh organic (not-contaminated by pesticides or chemical fertilizers) vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, roots and tubors and a minimum amount of grains (and even then, sprouted grains as much as possible) and dairy products (humans are the only species on earth that consumes milk after weaning!).

Go sparingly on meat. Eat cold water fish and lean cuts of meat that has not been subject to hormones, antibiotics and feedlot practices.

Consume a variety of colors in both vegetables and fruits. Be sure to include plenty of dark green leafy vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, garlic and foods high in omega-3 fats. Eat raw, or close to raw fruits and vegetables as much as you can.

Avoid refined sugar (the number one cause of health problems in the world according to the WHO), bleached flour and artificial sweeteners (two good natural sweeteners are Stevia and the harder to find, better tasting and more expensive Lo Han).

Eliminate fast foods and processed foods - the good nutrients have been processed out and harmful additives, such as trans-fats, texturizers, preservatives, color, etc. have been added in to improve shelf-life, taste and texture.

Drink plenty of pure water (reverse osmosis filtered, for example) and get plenty of fresh air, sunshine and rest.

Avoid stress, the silent killer. Find peaceful surroundings, go for nature walks, meditate, curl up with a good book. Surround yourself with happy, positive people and avoid those who aren't (or, in the case of loved ones, try to remove stress from their lives and make them happier people to be around).

Exercise moderately. There is no need to overdo it, but if you exercise regularly you will feel better and live longer and healthier. If you don't, you get just the opposite.

Do not overcook meat, potatoes or other vegetables. Overcooking and charing robs your food items of the good nutrients, and even worse, causes the formation of carcinogens.

Take natural supplements that have plenty of anti-oxidants and which boost the immune system (our natural first line of defense that wards off and beats disease and illness).

If you have conditions or concerns about health issues, consult a good naturopathic practitioner. If at all possible, avoid approved medications and take natural herbs, supplements and foods to address your problems. Despite decades of promises and great leaps forward in modern science and technology, the last four decades have seen little in the way of cures and a huge number of expensive side-effect laden medications that merely treat symptoms.

There is more, but that is a good start.

Once you have changed to a healthy diet and lifestyle and began re-capturing lost years, energy and even youth, so that you have the best chance of living the maximun lifestyle that your genetic make-up allows, you can begin to take a look at what really works in anti-again insofar as actually extending your lifespan beyond what the potential your genetics gave you.

There is a lot of hoopla about products and things that increase lifespan beyond the genetic code, but here are some of the things that really work:

A combination of supplentmentation of L-Carnosine, DMAE and Acetyl-L-Carnitine compiment one another and not only ward off the ravages of aging, but actually demonstrate the ability to retard and even reverse aging.

Other effective anti-aging supplements are extracts of wild oats or wild nettles (safely increase testosterone levels), 7-Keto DHEA, homeopathic HGH (GABA), Pregnenolone and Melatonin.

For more information about the nature of aging and the age-increasing benefits of the supplements listed here go to this link for a much more in-depth article:

Hi Kandi;
I dont know about the revised information, which is why I said unsubstantiated.

The original information was Brunswick data.

But it seems there have been some misuses of their information. Their site has some info on it.

The original numbers I posted were based on actual product out of the bottle, not the individual ingredients used.

For example, a pomegranite (sp?) may have an orac score of "X", but pomegranite juice in a bottle, if there is anything diluting it, will obviously have a lower orac score per ounce.

The crucial reason why the cherry concentrate is so high is because its concentrated, its thick, like syrup, but really high in tartness. Like a good cherry pie.

Theres somewhere between 1200 and 1600 cherries packed in a bottle, basically.

An Irreverent Look at the Vitamin Bible and Its Author (Earl Mindell) James A. Lowell, Ph.D.

According to the advertisements in the newspapers, I was going to learn “How to Live to Be 100 Plus!"

"It’s free,” said one ad, “and if you are less than a century old, what have you got to lose?” So, since I am not quite that old, off I went, pen and notebook in hand, to a lecture in Tucson conducted by Earl Mindell, R.Ph., Ph.D., “noted nutritionist, pharmacist, lecturer . . . and author of the best selling Earl Mindell’s Vitamin Bible."

The lecture was sponsored by two Great Earth Vitamin Stores located in the Tucson area. Mindell helped found the Great Earth chain of health food stores, which, numbering about 200, is now the nation’s second largest. He has also written Earl Mindell’s Vitamin Bible for Your Kids, Earl Mindell’s Pill Bible, Earl Mindell’s Quick & Easy Guide to Better Health, and Earl Mindell’s Shaping Up with Vitamins—books whose total sales are in the millions.

Mindell claims to hold valid credentials in nutrition. Although he does have a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of North Dakota, his Ph.D. is from the University of Beverly Hills, an unaccredited school which lacks a campus or laboratory facilities. During his speech, Mindell also said that he studied at Rutgers University, but representatives in Rutgers’ records office whom I contacted could find no record of this.

Mindell’s Vitamin Bible was written while he was working toward his Ph.D. His adjunct faculty adviser for the project was James Kenney, Ph.D., R.D., who is currently a nutritionist at the Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica, California. Kenney reviewed the manuscript while tutoring Mindell and told him that it contained over 400 errors, more than 100 of which were important. Kenney told me that most of the errors remain in the published edition. The acknowledgements section of the book recognizes Dr. Kenney for his help and also thanks the American Medical Association, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Dairy Council, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Nutrition Foundation, “without whom a project of this scope could never have been completed.” However, the fact that all these prestigious organizations would strenuously disagree with information in the book is not mentioned.

In a section entitled “The Whole Truth,” Vitamin Bible tells what each vitamin and mineral can supposedly do for you and gives advice for self treatment with supplements of many of them. For example, it suggests pantothenic acid for tingling hands and feet, vitamin D for conjunctivitis, and calcium for menstrual cramps. This section also promotes substances which Mindell calls “vitamins” B10, B11, B13, B15, B17, P, T, and U. There is no evidence that any of these substances are essential to humans or that supplements of any of them are beneficial. Furthermore, B15 (pangamic acid) and B17 (laetrile) pose health risks. Another section of the book recommends self-treatment with supplements for more than 50 ailments and conditions including, acne, bad breath, baldness, headaches, measles, mumps, prostatitis, syphilis, gonnorrhea and warts.

In Vitamin Bible for Kids, Mindell advises parents who suspect that their child is deficient in any nutrient to consult a “nutritionally oriented doctor” or (if mineral deficiency is suspected) to obtain a hair analysis. Among other things, the book recommends vitamin supplements for acne, bronchitis, athletes foot, canker sores, chicken pox, clumsiness, colitis, dandruff, diabetes, forgetfulness, impetigo, insect bites, prickly heat, poison ivy, stomachaches, tonsillitis, and warts. For multiple sclerosis, it recommends orotic acid, which Mindell refers to as vitamin B13. And for children “whose little white lies are growing darker,” he recommends eliminating sugars, refined starches, and junk foods from the diet and supplementing with B-complex vitamins.

Mindell is co-editor of Keats Publishing Company’s “Good Health Guides,” a large series of booklets promoting dozens of questionable supplements. His fellow editor is Richard A. Passwater, whose “Ph.D.” is from Bernadean University, an nonaccredited correspondence school that was never legally authorized grant any degrees.

Mindell has also written information sheets that are distributed as educational material in health food stores. Although all of them warn that the information they contain “is not intended as medical advice but only as a guide in working with your doctor,” it is clear that health food stores are using them to boost product sales by making claims that would be illegal on product labels.

The Lehigh Valley Committee Against Health Fraud has collected more than 60 of these articles dated between 1980 and 1984. Some of them describe how various vitamins, minerals and amino acids function in the body and provide tidbits on research involving these substances. Others promote such products as ginseng, bee pollen, chelated minerals, kelp (to help the thyroid gland), yucca extract tablets (for arthritis), papaya (to help digestion), octacosonol ("the amazing energy sustainer"), and golden seal root (for stomach and liver troubles).

Most of the information sheets are misleading, and many contain errors. In #63, for example, Mindell states that research done at Temple University in Philadelphia found that rats fed dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) lost weight. What actually happened, however, was that rats who received dosages 50 times greater than those marketed for humans did not lose weight but merely gained less than expected. Great Earth was one of many companies selling DHEA pills as a "fat fighter” until the FDA ordered all DHEA products off the marketplace in the spring of 1985 [see NF 2:30, 2:46, 2:47].

Flyer #44B suggests that supplements of glucomannan (a plant fiber) are an effective appetite suppressant—which they are not. A previous version of this flyer claimed that studies conducted by Judith Stern, D.Sc., of the University of California at Davis, showed that subjects taking glucomannan lost more weight than control subjects. Actually, no significant differences were found between the two groups, and mention of Dr. Stern was deleted after she threatened to take legal action.

Flyer #4B suggests that supplementation with lecithin can prevent heart disease, aid anemia, strengthen weak muscles, reverse psoriasis, improve memory and balance, and even “appears to help multiple sclerosis.” (Mindell sometimes calls lecithin “the Roto-Rooter of the nutritional world” because “it cleans out blood vessel walls.")

Flyer #31 claims that superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an “anti-aging enzyme” which may be effective against arthritis, atherosclerosis, cancer and senility. Even if this were true, SOD in pill form could not possibly be effective. Tests on animals have shown that oral supplementation does not affect tissue SOD activity—a finding easily predictable from the fact that SOD, like all other proteins, would be digested rather than absorbed intact into the body.

Flyers #9A and #9B endorse the theory of Dr. Benjamin Frank that increasing intake of RNA and DNA through dietary measures or supplements will “reverse the aging process.” [Dr. Frank’s No-Aging Diet, popular a decade ago, recommended eating sardines, yeast and other foods rich in these nucleic acids.] Nucleic acids, found in all living matter, are basic to cell reproduction. Like SOD, however, those that are eaten are digested and never reach the cells intact. Moreover, nucleic acids are like specific blueprints. If DNA and RNA from yeasts or sardines could actually work in humans, they would turn them into young yeasts or baby sardines

Mindell says that everyone should take supplements. He claims that foods from the grocery store are depleted of vitamins and minerals and, therefore, are nutritionally inadequate. He says that smokers need extra vitamin C, those who drink alcohol need extra B-vitamins, and that women taking birth control pills need extra B6. During his talk in Tucson, Mindell said he personally takes “20-odd” supplements twice daily. He also said that “natural” vitamins like natural vitamin C with rose hips are better than synthetic ones. Even Linus Pauling, whom Mindell frequently quotes, has pointed out that there is no difference between the two in nutritional value.

Mindell’s lecture included advice that is potentially dangerous. He said, for example, that vitamin A is safe in amounts up to 100,000 IU per day and that any potentially toxic doses carry warnings. Neither of these statements is true. Cases have been reported in which daily dosage with 25,000 IU of vitamin A has caused toxic levels to build up in the body over periods of months or years. And supplements of this strength do not contain warning labels.

Mindell also recommended exclusive use of whole grains and said these cannot be harmful unless massive amounts are eaten. Whole-grain foods are perfectly fine for people who are healthy as long as they don’t eat too many of them. However, whole grains contain phytates, which can prevent mineral absorption. Americans with borderline intakes of some minerals could become mineral deficient by consuming excessive amounts of whole cereal grains and fiber.

Mindell told the audience that 300 milligrams daily of zinc supplementation is safe, but research reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association [246:2188, 1978] shows that dosages of more than 150 milligrams daily may cause serious copper loss. According to Dr. Harold Sandstead, a major zinc researcher, people who take more than 50 milligrams of zinc a day should have their copper levels monitored. In fact, it has been reported that supplements of only 15 milligrams per day can cause above-normal copper loss [Journal of Nutrition 108:1449, 1976].
At one point during his talk, Mindell tried to persuade a member of the audience to follow his advice rather than that of his doctor by claiming that medical doctors are ignorant about vitamins.
Now retired from active management of his stores, Mindell spends much of his time writing, lecturing and appearing on talk shows. Despite the astonishing number of innaccuracies he has been promoting—his ideas are rarely questioned by members of the media who encounter him.

This article was originally published in the June 1986 issue of Nutrition Forum. At that time, Dr. Lowell was a board member of the National Council Against Health Fraud, Professor of Life Sciences at Pima Community College, Tucson, Arizona; and an occasional columnist for The Arizona Daily Star. This article was posted on March 14, 2005.

Dr. Mindell is the man behind "Himalayan Goji". When choosing a supplement for anything, take a skeptical approach. Practice due diligence, and educate yourself, ask the hard questions. Its better to choose a product that was created to support science, rather than trust a science that was created to support a product.
