What is it you are selling... and why should your customers buy it?
Your Business Plan describes "what" you are selling.
Your Marketing Plan addresses "why" your customers should be attracted to your business.
Without a marketing plan you are dead in the water before you even start!
95% of the people involved in network or internet marketing fail because they work backwards!
First they find something to sell, and then they try to figure out how to sell it. When that fails, they try something else.
That approach leads to frustration and empty pockets.
The 95% group has a buyer mindset. They are looking for something "out there" on the information highway that holds the secret key.
And they are buying it... everywhere.
But the 5% group are the ones with a business mindset, and they are selling to the other 95%.
>> Do you get that? <<
Now here's the "secret key" that will take you from the 95% group and put you into the top 5% almost instantly.
Drop the "buyer" mindset. Stop thinking about what it is that you want... and start thinking about what the market wants and needs.

Knowledge is POWER!

You see Yvette, it's not about YOU or what YOU are selling. It's about THEM and what they want.
Here is one of my favorite quotes. It's from Zig Ziglar so you've probably heard it before...
"We can have anything we want in life if we're willing to help enough other people get what they want."
I'll be very honest here. I want more traffic.
How do I generate more traffic?
By helping YOU generate more traffic.
How do YOU generate more traffic?
By helping others generate more traffic.
If you have not already started building your traffic, here's where to begin...

Why does Traffic Hoopla work?
Because there is one common thing that EVERYONE in a traffic exchange wants...
...MORE TRAFFIC!

I had an interesting experience a few years ago. I created a laminated oversized postcard to promote Broasters Chick for a local convenience store. I mailed that postcard in nice gold leaf envelopes to local area businesses. The idea behind this effort was to help generate business for this new franchise at the convenience store by having local businesses simply hang up the postcard in their establishment to draw the public's attention. Well, the effort backfired big-time. Local businesses were so insulted that someone mailed them something to post in their establishment, that some did more than just dispose of the postcard. They actually mailed it back to me or called and told me to come and pick it up. No one figured out that if they took the time to lift up a fellow business that the fellow business might reciprocate in kind. No, this community did not figure that out.
Then, last March, I tried a little different approach to introduce The Foundation Center's grant-seeking seminar to the area for the first time. It was not enough to simply let it be known that the seminar was happening and was freely available to the public. I needed an extra bit of enticement. I got both local Chambers of Commerce offices to endorse and promote the event. I also promised any nonprofit attending space at a table to display their fliers. Result? The meeting was packed with people!
Lesson learned: People are more apt to buy into participating in an effort of some sort if they can first figure out they participating is in their best interest. Simply sending out an announcement is inadequate. There has to be a tie-in that demonstrates the activity is really in the other party's best interest. What's more, there needs to be a mechanism (in this case it was Chamber of Commerce folks) to enable the public to figure out the benefit(s) for themselves. Simply telling the public something is in their best interest - be it via snail mail, email, newspaper, radio or TV - does not get the job done. You not only need multiple marketing venues, but serious "buzz" and that means people are talking about what you are planning.
Without really explaining itself, Twitter.com demonstrates that to build a large audience of followers, your fist step is to become an audience for someone else. I invite all members of this network to become members of my audience on Twitter by going to lamarjmorgan and following me. I will, in return, follow you. But, that is not all. If you send me a direct message that you would like for me to re-tweet (share with my audience), I will gladly do that for you. Of course, I will also ask that you reciprocate in kind for me. Make no mistake, this is a win/win scenario that can build both your Twitter network and mine. Just start thinking, "better together."

Altho Traffic Exchanges are our primary focus here in this network, I am always happy when members share other forms of Marketing with us. That is what we are here for: to learn to be better Marketers!
I've been hearing a lot about Twitter - is it new? It is similar to RYZE, FACEBOOK, And MY SPACE, is it not?

Twitter is a FREE micro-blogging service. When I first heard about it and went to take a look I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. The idea of asking someone to answer the question, "What are you doing now?" seemed absurd to me.
But, what you discover on many social networks - including Ryze - is that everyone is talking and no one is listening. People are putting forth their message, but not getting any feedback. There is no connection.
Along comes Twitter with a simple little idea. Let's start with the connection...first. Would you like to have an audience? Well, step one is to first become an audience for someone else. So, the first thing you do after you join Twitter is to "follow" someone else. Guess what usually happens? They follow you back. In fact, there are third-party apps that will automate that process for you. In just a few weeks I have been able to amass more than 1,000 followers. See for yourself. Visit My Twitter Page.
I am big on three principles - CARING, CONNECTING and HAVING A GOOD DESIGN to get things done. It could be a trade show, a shopping center grand opening or simply getting more customers for a business. It is easy to waste time and money when the folks you are pursuing don't care about what you are trying to accomplish. I have seen that a lot here on Ryze. For some strange reason, people will go out of their way to attack someone's idea rather than try to find a way to make it work. However, this is not limited to online communication. I have seen it happen at town hall meetings. The lack of CARING kills.
On the flip side, when CARING is on the rise, wonderful things happen. Want proof? Visit Hardesters Shopping Center Grand Opening Promotion. Here you will find letters (some from Ryzers) drawing attention to a shopping center grand opening they cannot even attend because they don't even live anywhere near the area. So, why do they bother to send a letter? Because they CARE and want to make a positive difference in someone else's life. They understand that the Golden Rule works. What goes around can indeed come back around. Good things happen to those who help MAKE good things happen.
If you sign up for Twitter, be sure to add the third-party app, TweetDeck. This will enable you to manage your Twitter audience from your desktop without having to go to the website. TweetDeck will give you the option to re-tweet messages. What does that mean? It means you can forward someone else's message to your audience. Now, think about that for a moment. The fact that you can spread someone else's messsage to your audience means your Twitter friends can do likewise for you. What you have in effect is an audience helping an audience spread messages. Is that not amazing? No wonder I have been able to amass such a large audience is such a short period of time. I am not doing it all by myself. I have got friends around the world helping me. And, why are they helping me? Because I am helping them. The synergy is fabulous. I encourage you to join it. In fact, I invite you to follow me.

Join Twitter.
Follow me.
I also suggest you do a Google search and download TweetDeck so you do not have to visit the Twitter site to access your account. Watch what people talk about and how they use Twitter. It really is amazing what you can accomplish by making brief statements.
A few other Twitter apps I would add include: Mr. Tweet, Socialtoo and Twitwall. Just do a Google search to find them.
Any questions? Just shoot me a private message.

Some times the simplest quotes help the most, when it comes to marketing.
"The person who uses their skill and constructive imagination to see how much they can give for a dollar, instead of how much they can get for a dollar is bound to succeed"
