Twitter is another contact point with your
audience and as such can help you in all the ways
that knowing other human beings is beneficial.
You can use it to...
- follow important people in your industry
- influence your tribe
- send traffic to your blog or website
- sell your products and services
- sell other people's products and services
- keep up to date with friends and family
- participate in the conversation
- become famous
- and more...
Although hesitant initially, after Twittering for
fun, I started to realize how incredible Twitter
is for business too.
Simply put, you can't afford not to use this tool
if you want to stay current and be a participant
in your market and not just a consumer or
observer.
Participation leads to insights, which leads to
you developing a more intimate knowledge of your
industry, and more importantly, a more direct
influence over the important people in your
industry, namely -
- Other experts/mavens
- Your audience
To put this into practical perspective, I use
Twitter to send traffic to my blog posts. I use
Twitter to promote affiliate products (I've done
thousands in sales already). I use Twitter to stay
connected with other top Internet marketers and to
connect with my people - my followers.
It's a great tool, but like all things requires
work to get going, so you should start now.

I've been tweeting since last December and love it too. I
try to put out a thought each day and most of the time it's
not business related. I've some new clients due to twitter
and am so glad I jumped in when I did!

T.E.A.M. Mom! | | Hi Sherry, thanks for sharing this info on this. I am still learning the ropes, for the most part it is very easy and I am surprised how much I love it!
I heard about Twitter several times thru ryze, but really paid no mind to it, being that I am so busy with other things. When alot of the gals I follow here on ryze began to do it and shared that it had opened up doors of both business and friendship I said why not at least peek at it.
Than, while watching the news, I happened to hear about this thing between Larry King & Ashton Kutchner so I was even more intriqued :) The people I follow are based on business (by this resourses, tips, tools I can read about) - parenting, family, life (for my blogs and newsletter) and of course friends (ryze).
I have gained so so much insight to what is out there and have come across a few sites that I have either already posted about or have in my files waiting to review thru. This has also made my researching alot more easier, as I sift thru the posts made and have been spending more time on building my own business and preparation for schooling (hopefully September).

When Twitter began hitting the national news my (grown)
children asked me about it because last year I was trying
to get them onboard twitter so I could communicate with
them there. They are always out but all have cell phones.
It seemed like a great way for them to let me know (with
little snippets) what they were doing.
Of course, letting MOM know what you are up to has not been
on their agenda's for many, many moons. Now that the world
is paying attention to twitter, they think MOM was pretty
hip to know about twitter!

T.E.A.M. Mom! | | That is so funny Eileen, I know my son won't add me to his facebook because he said I am right there looking at him and we are a wall apart when working at our desks :)
Twitter has been an invaluable tool for me the past month since I actually got active. I joined in December and forgot all about it, til I kept hearing that silly thing between Larry & Ashton.
I have gained so much insight into alot of stuff, gotten to know alot of my ryze friends alot better (on a more personal level), have cut out 1/2 my time spent on researching material for posting (love love love having popping up there in one place) and most of all, found a new outlet to get noticed.
I am still trying to get about the whole thing, really haven't had time to read up on all the lingo, but am getting the hang of it. I had thought of doing this with my family because we are all over the place and the ones I want to keep up with are on facebook (which is boring the daylights out of me). None will follow.
Business is the reason I am Twittering, nothing more. I really am just finally stepping out of my comfort zone I have built here on ryze for 5 years and exploring other avenues of networking and exposure. Ryze has been a bittersweet pill to stomach at times, I have surely learned a great deal of life lessons here, which I am using to my advantage over on Tweeter.
I will never bad mouth or gossip about anyone or anything that has happened here, but, am using what has gone on to help me better decide who I want to follow and folling me back. That is one good thing to come out of all tears here on ryze, well and of course my great friendships I have made too!

I added another shot of my 'librarian' face which is a much
more recent photo (snapshot really) which I hope makes it
seem more personal.
Yes, it's still 'cartoony' and I hope that shows off some
