I have recently relocated to join my husband in Singapore. I had an Software Development company in India and now in Singapore, I plan to take up some consultancy assignments and remotely manage my business as well.

Imraan Ramdjan		Hi my name is Imraan. I am Dutch (from the beautiful country of Holland or also known as The Netherlands, and yes most of it is below sea level). I used to live for over 30 year and my house was also below sea level... but don't worry I had dry feet. ;-)

My ancesters are from UP (India) and I was born in Suriname (any guess where that is??). Meera and I are living in Singapoe for over a year now and it has not been easy. Making friends has proven a bit though and the friends we have we know from either the past or through friends in India. I have heard from more people who have been in Singapore for a (short) while that it is not easy to make friends here.

So that is why I am so glad that I have joined this group and I hope to make some new friends soon. Unfortunatly I will not be able to make it this week thursday to the get togehter but I hope to meet you all soon.

Hi Natasha,

My apologies for not responding earlier to your query. In fact, I have not visited this thread since quite some time after posting my own introduction.

Singapore is a wonderful place to be. I guess it affords all that can one think of but currently there are limitations in acquiring a decent job. The downturn all over has affected Singapore too. The job scenario here is very competitive (as everywhere) and even more so with the downtrend. They have managed to contain job-cuts and other cost-cutting exercises to a large extent, but still its tough. However, it's not as bad as you'd expect as in some other countries, so that's good news. Thats just a general overview.

The Ministry of Manpower regularly draws out the Strategic Skills List. If one falls in any of these categories, chances of acquiring a job in Singapore are much brighter. You can try any of these links - scout on Job Sites or register/ send your resume to the various Executive Search Firms or even contact the numerous Employers from various industries that are always looking for talent from overseas. You may encounter the hurdle of not being a Singaporean PR or Citizen, but not everywhere. One reality is that there are umpteem job applicants for fewer jobs, so employers or placement consultants tend to contact those readily available for a meeting in Singapore. But that should not deter your search. Persist with patience.

Those who know me well may be surprised that I am a newbie to Singapore Sling. I've been on Ryze since October, 2003.

My latest Ryze venture is the network Social Networking Newbies. My target is slightly wider than Ryze, but good use of Ryze is certainly on of the things we are teaching.

I wish the members of this network well.

I am soo guilty and very very sorry - I haven't introduced myself yet.

A bit about me..

I am orginially from Hong Kong - born and raised.
Lived in Penang, Malaysia for about 2 years, then Singapore for 5 years, then Sydney, Australia for 2 years and now back to Singapore.. Probably will be here until I retire :)

A bit about what I do..

I run a boutique executive search company called Whitelight Executive Search. The company has a slight spiritual side - whitelight being what I feel is the ultimate being.

As opposed to placing all our energy on hunting for big-time clients, Whitelight looks for hardworking, honest and trustworthy candidates.

After meeting quite a number of you at the Anniversary Party I am very excited and look forward to being part of the Singapore Sling family.

I'm Mathilda D'silva...thanks to Himanshu for being such a champ and helping me get installed on Ryze. I own a media services company that services Mediacorp as well as advertising houses, production houses and overseas broadcasters.
