In the near future I believe there is a very high probability of a change from national identity to corporate identity. In the New World Order, it won't be your nationality that will be important, but your corporation or the corporation that employs you. The World will essentially be governed by The World Bank and there is every likelihood that currency as we now know it will become a thing of the past. We will be living in a cashless and cardless society. Yes, even the plastic cards will be replaced. People will be barcoded just as products are now. This will probably take the form of a microchip of a type that is in present use for tracking stolen cars, migrations of birds, fish and other animals in the wild. This system is already being offered to parents to keep track of their children. The sales pitch runs along the lines of....aren't your children more important to you than your cars?

Yes, things are changing so FAST.

Changing from a national to a corporate identity would seem to require near 100% of a country's employment to be via one of the multinational corporations.
Is that the case anywhere?

It would also seem that family relationship to the multinational would have to be pretty tight. After all, national identity comes with parent citizenship and/or birthplace. How would corporations retain such links to family members? If not, would employees have allegiance to their employer?

A final thought is regarding the permanent relationship an individual has with nationality. One cannot easily change national identity. Yet corporate identity seems much more tenuous. Will such weak links support a shift from national to corporate identity?
_____

I first heard this theory in the early 1970's. At that time, it was common for many corporations to employ multiple generations of a family, and lifetime employment was considered the rule rather than the exception.

Thanks Kenneth,

You make excellent points as usual. I didnt mean that we would lose our national identity, I just meant that for economic purposes our corporate identity would be more significant. In many ways it is like that now. To get an American Express credit card for example there are earning criteria to qualify. I know this is not a perfect example, but people who do not have a corporate identity will not be able to be members of the club so to speak. They will need to be dependent on charities.
