It has been awhile since I actively sent out Ryze Invites. But, I have decided to ramp things up a bit here on Ryze and do so by sending out Ryze Invites.

Now, in the past, when I did this sort of thing, it was just for the benefit of Ryze in general or for the network that I actually moderated. Why? Because that is the way I thought those Ryze Invites worked? It did not occur to me that I could actually send out invitations to the networks other folks moderated. But, I can...and so can any of you.

I am going to try a little experiment - with this network and mine (Clusters: Small Business Group Netweaving). I am simply going to ask people I know via a Ryze Invite to join both networks and when they do to introduce themselves. I am curious to see what happens.

Hey Lamar.

What a nice thing to do. Thank you very much for including
ABHP in your idea to invite folks to join Clusters. I am a
member of clusters but have not been active there. (my bad)
BUT will jump over there and see what's happenin' soon.

It's been some while back but I seem to remember some folks
inviting me to their clusters (small) group but at the
time, I had no idea what that was about and no time to
peruse the idea.

Maybe it's time I took the time. Yeah?

Eileen,

Here's the deal about "Clusters." It's not simply that people are on a Ryze network and post messages back-and-forth. It's that they are willing to collaborate in a small group with each other. Small groups can accomplish more than big groups because getting a consensus is easier. It's a lot easier for four people to pick a time to get together than 48. It's a lot easier to get four people to agree to retweet a single message at a specific time using TweetLater than 48. When numbers becomes important, it is a lot easier to connect through small groups than simply reaching out to individuals. Why? Because it really does make a difference if your reach out to the public through caring third parties as opposed to just yourself. Guy Kawasaki on Twitter recently admitted that he has five people working his Twitter account. He does not do it all himself. Well, the idea of Clusters is that you uplift the needs of others and allow them to do likewise for you. And, the process does not have to start with you first to work. Think about the Twitter model. To gather a Twitter audience for yourself, what must you do? You must follow someone else...first. On Twitter, you have to be a follower before you can be a leader.

Now, I would recommend that you get yourself both a free Skype account and a free Yugma account. By doing this, a small group of folks can meet online to talk and share desktop content in real-time. I actually read a New York Times article that said this strategy was how Barak Obama started his campaign to become President of the United States. He set up small groups online around the world TWO YEARS before he publicly announced he was running for the TOP JOB in the United States. It all began with small groups - not big crowds.

Ironically, in many cases, when you have a BIG IDEA, to make it work, you think small. Check out this video by Brand Autopsy called Jumbo Shrimp Marketing. I think it is an awesome video - a combination of clever ideas and common sense done with slides and narration.
