works for networking groups and as that advice has stood
me in good stead for most of my life (I can be incredibly
messy at times!) it applies here.

For the last ten years I've been a Virtual Assistant after spending ten years working as an Office / Administrative / Executive Assistant for various companies and organizations. I work with small business owners who have more work than they can do but nowhere to put an employee along with no equipment, no desire to do more paperwork and a strong desire to work with an experienced assistant.
When I'm not typing away, creating wonderful specimens to aid my clients, answering my phone and keeping my household running smoothly, I'm off helping with my church and managing my own business, Admin Services.
Throw in surviving Hurricane Katrina, re-establishing my business and getting a divorce one behind the other and I'm lucky to be somewhat sane. Thank you Jesus for keeping me through it all!
Thank God for school so my two teenage daughters (18 & 17) can go somewhere and leave me alone while I work! LOL! Can you tell I really do love my kids? They are my beloved ones.

As if all that wasn’t enough to do, I started the Newnan Networkers last year and just turned hosting of it over to another wonderful business owner. Meanwhile, I’m serving as hostess for the Atlanta Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce monthly power luncheons in the South Metro Counties. So I’m meeting a whole new group of people and continuing to grow my business.
Then I found a great way to remove the harsh and toxic chemicals from my home that is fabulous. I love telling people all about my experience with these products while working with a company that has been in business for the last 24 years and made over $889 million dollars in 2008.
In my spare time I read my Bible, exercise my body, surf the Net and sleep when I can. I've got a wonderful sense of humor, tons of humility and excessive modesty. Oh well, at least I have a sense of humor. LOL! Ok, enough about me, back to the real world! Take care and God bless.

I've done various kinds of work from packing sardines in cans to boring holes in the sticks that make the back legs of sofas. Most of my life has been dedicated to creating, on several continents, a home for my family.
I have a degree in Furniture Design and Product Development but chose not to work in the field and I'm rather glad of that decision. Shortly after my graduation, the furniture industry in NC tanked and went overseas, including much of the design work.
In 2005 I took some free lessons in woodturning. In one afternoon I created a small vase and an ornament. I was so very in the flow, I had not noticed that class had been dismissed and all lathes but mine had been disassembled. As I was leaving the building, inside myself I heard the words "Pat's Pens and Treasures". I had never heard of a pen being made of wood and I knew only what I had learned that afternoon, but I went home and ordered business cards.
The first year of penmaking was a vertical learning curve. I had never had a woodworking studio, I did not have the tools, and I did not have an instinctive understanding of how those strange tools should be used or what naturally could be done with them.
Fortunately, I found an online discussion group dedicated to wood pens and to sharing information. From phone calls to redoing their FAQ sheets with photos to answering some strange questions, the guys (and a few gals) gave me the courage to continue. I was abjectly open with this group sharing my failures, fears, just not getting it times, and my successes. The leaders critiqued my work and stroked my passion for 'rightness'. Now I turn pens with very small turning tolerances and an exceptional fine, hand-melded wax and lacquer finish.
I've customers who save for months to buy the next pen and I've customers for whom that same pen would be pocket change. My pens are all about the union of beauty and spirit.
The best referral for me are those who value the hand-written word and the beauty of wood.
