Thanks for taking up my invitation. The next few days will be rather exciting. We'll be going through several ways how to use technology to help make more of your marketing efforts and improve your productivity.
A few days ago, I was listening to a recorded call between Perry Marshall and John Paul Mendocha and they talked about how flashy audio or website candy is not going to land you sales and make you all the money. You know what? They're right. Ok stay with me a minute. This is not a bait and switch thing. I AM going to show you the technologies many successful marketers have used to improve their business.
The point I'm trying to make is, technology should not be viewed as the silver bullet for your business. It will not automatically transform your traffic or sales overnight - no matter what software sellers tell you - trust me, I've tried many of them and spent a lot of money on very expensive software. It is a combination of smart marketing and... work. You don't seriously think you can make your millions by pushing buttons do you?
The ultimate technology is your brain. Nothing has ever been built that can work the way the human brain can. You probably heard the term garbage in garbage out. That is how you should view technology when you want to use it for your marketing. You are the catalyst. You make it happen but you don't have to break your back making it happen because you can use technology to help you but you need to input intelligent thought (which you're perfectly capable of) into a piece of software before it can help you bring in results.
So, it's not about using high tech eye candy and hoping for the best. I personally know a few people who've done very well online without using any fancy technology on their main websites but they do use at least one of the methods I'll be showing you to make their business better.
Alright, enough talk, let's go over what we'll cover the next few days.
Day 1 - Nothing Like Show And Tell Day 2 - Let Them Hear You Day 3 - Autoresponder Does NOT Equal Autobot Day 4 - Conducting Live Presentations Day 5 - Testing & Tracking
I hope you'll find something of use in this course and if you do, remember to apply it. That is what makes things happen.

[TBM] Day 1 - Nothing Like Show And Tell
Video (and audio - we'll get to that tomorrow) online has come of age. Due to increase in broadband adoption throughout the world, people are demanding more and more rich media content. What does this mean to you?
Top marketers who use video testimonials or presentations on their sales pages have seen over again increase in conversion compared to the non-video pages. That itself should be reason enough but video can be so much more effectively used especially valuable if you're selling physical goods. Why? Imagine having your very own mini show about your products? Your very own home shopping network where you demonstrate the power, ease function of your product.
How many times have you watched one of those late night infomercials or shopping networks and be convinced of the product because you saw them using it? Now you can do the same thing. Look, which do you think people would believe more? A few paragraphs and a photo of the latest state of the art vacuum cleaner or a video demonstration of someone vacuuming broken glass off the floor and then walk barefoot over the spot?
Lately, there's also another type of video emerging online and it's quite popular with visitors too. It's called screen casting. I'm sure you've seen this. Basically, you're capturing everything on your desktop as you perform actions like using as software or visiting a website. It's almost like having someone video taping you over your shoulder as you work on your computer.
This kind of video has been proven to be quite an effective teaching tool. It's great to teach people how to navigate your website, how to use a software or just learn how to complete a task on their computer. I've personally found videos to help reduce support or help requests.

We're not talking about cheesy midi music or irritating flying sounds and beeps. Like video, the broadband revolution is bringing CD quality music, radio, audio presentations and more to a large number of people. What's more, people like audio because now with these slick MP3 players and iPods, they can carry Internet content with them wherever they go and free them from being 'bound' to their computers.
Audio has also known to increase conversion rates, it's much easier to record than video and most audio services can record from the telephone and put it online instantly. How easy can it get? Plus everyone has a telephone. Audio testimonials are great way to convince people who are thinking of buying at your website that satisfied customers are not some text and name you made up but a live real person they can listen to and hear all the raw emotions. They also make you, the people behind the business come to life and help assure people they aren't sending their credit card number into some black hole.
There are simply loads of audio services and software options you can use to put audio on your website and it all depends what you're looking for. If you want easy totally hands free solutions or don't want to mess with technicalities then hosted services like InstantAudio.com work out best http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/t/t.php?id=125
If you're the more technologically adventurous, there are software you can use where you record from your desktop or your web server. There are a lot out there and I've researched many of them in depth considering ease of use and value. The one I recommend most is MP3 SoundStream, http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/t/t.php?id=126
Just remember, if you're hosting your own audio, every time someone clicks to listen to your audio they are using up bandwidth. So make sure your hosting account has enough bandwidth to cater for the audio plays and regular traffic.
The nice thing about audio is, it's not limited to your website. Like video, you can create audio newsletters or with this new craze called podcasting, you can even create your own 'radio' show. There are already people who use their show with podcasts to promote affiliate products and having great results. Here's a page for you to learn more about podcasting http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/t/t.php?id=27
Take care, Lynette Chandler Your Technology Advisor

[TBM] Day 3 - Autoresponder Does NOT Equal Autobot
What are they? If you're already using autoresponders, good for you. But if you're a totally new to this, like the name suggests, it is a system that will 'respond' when someone emails it. There are two types of autoresponders, sequential and basic.
Most web hosting services come with a basic autoresponder feature and these will only perform one action. If you send an email to the system, it will reply with an email that you prepared earlier. It has it's uses but for effective marketing the sequential autoresponder is the one we want and should be every marketer's best friend.
The sequential autoresponder is better because it's somewhat 'intelligent' - no it cannot think for us but it makes our job a LOT easier. You've probably heard this before that you need an average of 7 encounters with a prospect before they buy from you. In the old days, you'd be sitting by the phone or have your sales staff sit by the phone with a list of people who responded to you before and call up everyone of them to follow up but, that is a lot of work.
This is where the autoresponder comes in. All you need to do is spend one day writing up the followup responses after someone requests information or purchased from you. Write one to be sent the next day, one for 2 days later, 3 days later, a week later, a month later and so on, you get the idea. Paste all these follow up email messages into the autoresponder system and you're done. Now, everytime someone opts in to receive information from you, the system will send your followups automatically on the exact days you intended it to send. There is no intervention required from you unless you want to modify the messages.
Can you see how much time you will save with this? Is it impersonal? Some people don't like using autoresponders because they think it's impersonal but that's just because they may be using it the wrong way. Remember garbage in garbage out. You need to write those followup messages - so write them as if you're emailing them on that very day. Write them as you would a friend. The fact is, you are writing to them personally - you're just not sitting there doing it yourself and eating up all your time. You'll be surprised many people don't know the difference.
So what should you use for your autoresponder? You can buy a script that you install on your webserver, or you can subscribe to an autoresponder service or you can buy a software installed on your computer - this last one is not recommended. For a full explanation of what you should use http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/email-list-software.html

[TBM] Day 4 - Conducting Live Presentations
There's nothing like interactivity. Web conferencing is a tool to gather two or groups of people together online and communicate in real time via audio, video and text. Much like an instant messenger.
It has been widely used in corporate environments to facilitate meetings and cut down traveling and meeting expenses. Web conferences, seminars are a great way to get people interested in your product. It gives people more information, helps people sample your product and allows them to ask questions in real time.
Like video, there are lots more things you can do with conferences than a sales seminar. You can use it for training sessions. These are excellent if you have affiliates. Affiliates are your sales people. They can help do your footwork for you and like any sales team they deserved to be trained properly. The more effective they are the more money they make themselves and you.
You can also hold live training sessions for customers if your product is one that requires some know how. Most conferencing services have a 'surf with me' feature. This is great for web based services, even member areas show them live how to get around your website, access their account history, use your services. You could even create a brand new line of product - live coaching or training where you sell paid access to your classes. Or, you can use it for customer support. The possibilities are plenty.
This is another one of those services I've spent considerable amount of time researching the ins and outs. It used to be (still is) very expensive. In fact, I'm sure you've seen WebEx or GoToMeeting everywhere online or on TV but these services can literally rob you of your profits and allow only a limited number of people in the room at the same time. Totally not small business friendly. So, I founded MeetingOnNow.com. You can have as many conferences as you like, for however long you want and invite as many people as you want for only one fixed price every month.
Yes, I know that sounds totally like a sales pitch. Fact is, if you've been looking around the web conferencing industry, you'll know that some services charge you by the minute or they limit you to 10 people per session. If you want to have more people in the conference, prices start to climb. In any business you want as much predictable costs as possible. You need technology that helps you grow and make money not take it away.
So if you want to try web conferencing, give MeetingOnNow.com a try. Better yet, take the free course on that page. I'll teach you how to make more with this technology http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/t/t.php?id=127
See you tomorrow, Lynette Chandler

[TBM] Day 5 - Testing and Tracking
This is a big one. Testing and tracking is what sets apart business owners from successful business owners. It's key to ensure your business grows. By testing and tracking you will find out exactly what works and what doesn't. Here's something to chew on, what really works is usually quite different from what you think works. Thankfully, it's so much easier these days to test and track especially if you're marketing online.
How does it work? You can test and track many different things. For example, you can use two different home pages and rotate them to see which page gives you better response. This is called split testing.
You can also test your headlines and titles to see which one works best. You can track links by using different links for different websites or ezines you advertise in. This way you know which publication gives you more results so you continue to advertise in them and which to drop.
It doesn't have to be a very high tech exercise. In fact to start testing without spending any money, create a special HTML page that redirects people immediately to the real page. Use the link to your special page in your ads. By doing this, you can now see in your website stats how many people visited the special page. If it's a lot, you know that ad has good response. If nobody visits it or the number is very low, you know something in the ad is not working. So, you should either make the ad better or try advertising elsewhere. This method is a good start and better than no tracking at all but if you want more information such as how well is an web page converting and do split testing, you should use a script like DynaTracker http://www.techbasedmarketing.com/t/t.php?id=128
