NASSCOM is the premier trade body and the chamber of commerce of the IT-BPO industries in India. NASSCOM is a global trade body with more than 1200 members, which include both Indian and multinational companies that have a presence in India.

There are many companies that have availed membership with NASSCOM. Will NASSCOM membership benefit a company in generating business leads for them? What are the benefits of NASSCOM membership for a start-up company? Is it mandatory for a software company to become a member of NASSCOM or does the membership only serve as a prestige statement? I appreciate your views.

There is no "mandatory" requirement for a software company to become a member of NASSCOM .... in fact it's an industry association like any other .... which protects the interests of the largest players in the business - clout is directly proportionate to size ....
The biggest advantage of membership is to those small companies who're either in the sub-contracting or the resource augmentation space ....
