It is crippling our economy and turning us into a nation of consumers and not producers. We cannot survive as a nation without a manufacturing industry and a strong export trade.
It seems that every day another company shutters a factory and moves production to Mexico, China, or elsewhere. That is contrary to the interests of the American people and at best is unpatriotic, especially during a recession when people are hurting and scrambling to find jobs. Dell just announced they are closing a new factory near my city, putting over 900 people out of work. The jobs are moving to Mexico.

True, more people need to explore mlm as an option, but we as small business owners need money to be flowing if we are to succeed. Everyone can't be in sales. There has to be some "fresh" outside money coming into the loop in order for the economy (and our mlm businesses) to grow. That fresh money comes from manufacturing and exporting. You'll have a hard time selling $50 bottles of vitamins to a consumer base whose income is coming from discount store and fast food hourly wages!
So, the point of this is to encourage all of you to be more vocal about this. Let companies know you don't accept off-shoring of jobs. Blog it, share it on Facebook, and vote with your wallet. It wouldn't hurt to write your representatives in Congress, but unfortunately many of them are owned by lobbyists and the very corporations that are most at fault.
Thanks for listening!

I too am not for engaging in Political Posts. But the answer to this is simple economics. It is cheaper to Outsource Labor then to Keep Americans on the Payroll.
Car sales were great when the Cash For Clunkers program was on but they didn't limit it to American Cars. It was open for all the other Car Companies also. Kindof defeating the Purpose.
It is simple economics. Example: who buys a 98.00 supply of Vitamins and thats a 30 ay supply when they can go to local stores and buy Vitamins for 5 or 6 dollars a bottle. People are strapped for money these days and are afraid of losing their Jobs.
I believe the Stimulus Program is not working for the Average American Worker. The Big Banks are again handing out hefty Bonuses even before the pay back the Government the money it got from them to stay in business.
The small mom and op stores can't stay n business and compete with giants like walmart etc. If we stop buying from them then the wholecountry will go banrupt.
It is time to get Government out of Running Ou businesses and let us run them ourselves.
This is just my opinion and my 2 cents worth. If some people disagree with meso be it. If some people agree with me so be it. I am not loooking for any confrontation.
We need to take back our Country and our way of life.

Here! Having recently worked for a large corporation that outsourced much of its work, I have seen first-hand how this is not only hurting American workers but, also, hurting our level of quality (both in products and service). It is not just manufacturing that is going off-shore; there are thousands of jobs in the service industry being sent overseas to, among other places, India. India's economy has received a huge lift because of American businesses taking advantage of cheaper labor.
I understand the economics of off-shoring. When you can get someone with a master's degree (or equivalent) for about what American companies pay fast-food workers, it is hard to turn that down. The biggest problems I personally witnessed are: 1) Quality degredation. Americans are used to the "best" and other cultures simply do not have that same drive or commitment. Culture, lack of training and not being connected to the community they are serving are all contributing factors. 2) High turnover. The overseas market I dealt with had, on average, a 75% - 100% annualized turnover rate. It is a process of job churning and that results in a lack of loyalty and experience.
I believe there are a number of arguments that could be made regarding whom to blame. Some say unions long ago lost sight of their true mission and have just become greedy big businesses. There are plenty of examples of corporate greed and largess benefitting only the high level executives. I'll refrain from editorializing on these arguments but regardless of one's opinions, there clearly are areas for improvement within all segments of our business structure. Having said that, Americans need to work to find solutions that keep America working and producing rather than sending our jobs elsewhere.
Writing our elected officials may have some impact if we also vote accordingly. Politicians care what we think only when we're in the voting booth. Another way to send a message is to refuse to do business with companies that off-shore jobs. Remember when certain stores boasted "Buy American?" Now you can't hardly find anything in their stores that isn't made in China or Mexico. What would happen if everyone boycotted stores that do not feature American made products and, instead, took our business to those that do sell American products? Also, keep in mind that brand name doesn't necessarily tell the whole story any longer. Look at all of the foreign brand autos that are manufactured in the USA.
Great topic! It may have political under-tones but it is much more than just politics - it is our future.

And on the subject of cheap labor, I'm sure that if the almost 1000 employees of Dell's North Carolina factory were given the option of a drastic pay cut or job loss, they would have taken the pay cut to keep the factory open. I doubt they were ever given that choice.
It's perfectly fine to have some off shore production capabilities, but to destroy the backbone of your home country seems treasonous.
