Susan Graves | | The holidays are approaching and getting prepared is the best way to have a fun stress free celebration. I know the 1st Thanksgiving I spent alone taught me a big lesson. I thought I was prepared, I bought some snack foods and extra drinks, prepared to pamper myself while I watched the parades and then go out for a nice dinner. Well, it worked great till I went out for a nice meal and found all the resturants closed or they had a special dinner had everyone had made reservations. Even the fast food places were closed and the motel I was staying in did not have a resturant. So I had a big breakfast the next morning.
Now I love looking forward to Thanksgiving alone, sure I could go many places, but its become my day and I love it.

I have thought it would be fun to go away at Christmas but not sure. I have spent 2 Christmas' away from home, but I miss all the days before the holidays, cooking, wrapping, baking, and shopping.
Share some ideas about spending a holiday alone (even if you have a family). What would you do?
