Took the day off to get outside work done yestersday. Finally have some nice Fall weather here in Northern Indiana. The foilage is beautiful this year! I'm not much of a picture / video person but I'll try to add some later.

So here is my first topics for conversation today...

What do you think the threshold is for most Internet marketers when it comes to purchasing a product that will (A) Give them a new tool for there business, not unlike Walt's recent post with the harvesting of leads.
(B) Personal development products for attitude, motivation and goal setting.

I see the majority now around $100 in price. Some still down in the $50 range but I think I'm seeing a trend of pricing going up. What's your cut off? If it's over $50 do you reach for the delete or junk mail button?

Some thoughts that I hope go into this...
1) What's your budget allow
2) What tools are required for you to run your game plan?
3) What return on investment are you really going to get?
4) Does more expensive make it a better value?..Or are they just trying to make a bigger profit over something that really could be sold for $19.99?

I know many discuss the fact that if they give it a higher price people tend to think it has more value and will buy before they will buy the bargain $19.99 product?

Second topic for the day....
Driving home from town yesterday I spotted a brown pick up truck with a bunch of writting on the back window. Figuring they were trying to sell the truck, and I am kinda looking for a truck, I pulled a little closer to see what the offer was. In poor handwritting and with the white window paint you see from a car dealer was this...Pre-Paid Legal. Call us for more information Blah Blah...Somebody's name - Barb I think, and a phone number.

OK - I have made some unprofessional posts and advertisments in the past but that was just to much "Logantucky" for me. LOL! We call my town Logantucky when we see somebody being a little to "Hick". Actual town name is Logansport :o)

Nothing against Pre-paid legal in fact I consider them maybe to be even a little more "white collar" than other companies. I was just surprised to see a rep for them makeing such a bad business decision with that style of advertising. If I see the truck again I will get the number or speak to the person and have them attend our Beginners Marketing Class ASAP!!! Hmmm...or maybe it was good advertisng because it caught my attention and now I want to talk to them! :o)

Your Thoughts?

Make it a great day and Stay focused!

Jeff asks, what the price threshold is for 'personal development products for attitude, motivation and goal setting'.

The sky is the limit. Do you know that a handful of companies sell three day conferences for $5,000 and even $10,000? I know of several. And they do actually collect those figures about twice a year from their marks. Oops! I mean from their circle of influence -- their list.

And, of course, there is the coaching or mentoring business where an hour a day on the phone with a mentor of your choosing can cost you $1,000 to $2,000 for only ten hours of coaching.

Contrarywise, I've been selling such a personal development product on Ebay for one very large MLM company. I've had steady sales for two years. During the worst 2 months of the recession I cut my price from $40 to $20 and yet sold absolutely none. Whereas, now I'm back up to $35 and I sell one unit every couple of days. My point? Price really, really matters to most buyers of this type of product. Yet to some buyers, price is no object.

The template for selling something in your price range, Jeff, is almost always the same. After pitching the main item for 3 equal credit card payments over three months, they give you five 'spectacular' free bonus items. And then the great testimonies rain down to close the deal.
