 Earline Roberson | | Hello,
I was talking with some friends and they were discussing how their product did not make it so well even though it is great. A lot of people who joined their company left because it was slower money than what they expected so instead of the company shutting it's doors, it decided to merge.
Truthfully, I haven't heard of MLM Mergers and this is a first for me...have you known anyone who has gone through something like this? Private Reply to Earline Roberson |

Yes and it was a disaser.
More often than not, mergers are the death of the company. Not always but most of the time.
Mergers usually spell trouble.

Joey McDermott | | Yes this does happen. Our company just took over a very successful company. The reason why they did this, is because they had market share overseas, which got us to be able to recruit and sale to people in those countries.
But this has happened before, you just don't here about it most of the time. Remember Herbal life? They were brought into Amway.
Amway has done this many of times, way back in the 70-80's.
Just do some research and you will see it does happen. Also sometimes it's even for the betterment of that company, to help them and there people get to the next level in their business.

Christel Agnes | | Hello Earline
Yes, I've been through this recently.
I decided after the merger and using their Product
which is also a Health Product to stay away
and focus 100% on my main Health & Wellness business which I had started over 3years ago.
Credibility, Integrity and longterm Business Security are very important to me
and this was the best decision I've ever made.

Jeff Beeman | | You sure about Herbalife merging with Amway? I know Nutrilite did way back when and that has been there main nutritional product since the beginning. I was thinking Herbalife was still out on it's own?
Chris from Serious Network Marketers would know this but I was also thinking (That gets me in trouble a lot!)that Nu-Skin had somebody merge with them as well?

 Diane Stephenson | | Jeff:
As far as I can see from searching online, Herbalife is still a company on its own. According to Wikipedia: The company continued to grow after his (the original owner)death and in 2002 was acquired by Whitney and Co LLC and Golden Gate Capital for USD 685 million, who took the company private again.[6]

Tim Flowers | | My first mlm was the Zig Ziglar Network. I was a big fan of Zig and his mlm sold success books, life planners, and vitamins. I invested quite a bit of money and time in it, and less than a year into it, they shut it down and merged with Nikken. At least, that's how they spun it. In reality they just sold their distributor list to Nikken. I decided not to move to Nikken, but by then I was hooked on the industry and joined Neways. Didn't do well there and moved on.
It's a learning process, for sure!

Earline Roberson | | Interesting post here...
I believe NuSkin, Big Planet and Pharmanex are together...did that one, it was good and I wish I would had stayed...great supplemental vitamins. They were already together when I did that one, never thought of it as a merger.
So it sounds like you could benefit from both companies or continue working the one you started in.
One thing for sure is busines is business and wise decisions should be made if success has a chance. Private Reply to Earline Roberson |

Diane Stephenson | | I've been in Gold Shield Elite for a dozen years. Actually it used to be Golden Pride, but Gold Shield, then one of the fastest-growing pharmaceutical/nutriceutical companies in Great Britain, bought them out along with 2 or 3 other MLM companies and merged them into Gold Shield Elite. This meant an addition of many different products from the other companies to our catalog, many of which were similar to those we had already been selling. But it meant much more than that: a major change in the comp plan. I lost all of my residual income on the new plan and have had no cheques since. The only reason I'm still in the company is that people come to the market for the Rawleigh products which Gold Shield offers and I started at the market with these products. Then I have the opportunity to share my other companies with the people who come to the market.

Jeff Beeman | | As we have seen posted here many times the Comp plan changing, especially those that occur after a merger, can be a bummer.
I'm still an affiliate with "Commission River" but originally they were "Cognigen". When they switched they took away a lot of the MLM incomes and stayed more with a affilaite commission plan. I know Micheal Lemm continues to have great success with Commission River but Diane Walker now with SOC moved on after that paticular merger.
Don't forget this also happens regularly in Main Stream Business...I have lost 3 different sales jobs because of mergers and acqusitions. I have also seen commission plans change in a couple others.
I still enjoy the MLM and Affiliate style of business but am working on my own products now to assure issues like these are limited.

Tim Flowers | | You're so right, Jeff! Almost every "conventional" company I've ever been employed by has either been bought out, has left the local market, or has completely gone out of business!
Job security is a myth.
