Sir,
Some of us are wondering how our cricket selector’s mind is working. I have found them going back to relay Munaf Patel in one day games without his proving anything. Tandulkar, Azerudeen and Srikant have taken four or five wickets in number of matches. I would like cricket lovers to tell me that my statistics are wrong. Let them say that he fields equal to any of the other ten fielders. That he cannot bat for nuts is some thing you all would agree. What is the rationale behind it? Jimmy Amaranath was not far wrong when he called them a bunch of jokers

Hi Charu,

Well Dhoni had no other option as Ishant was not doing well,so he tried Munaf. But Aussies made a nice Hyderabdi biriyani out of him.Had it been Azhar captaining, it would have been 2 spinners Bhajji and Amit Mishra in the Team.

Wonder why Dhoni never tried out Sehwag,Sachin or Raina today when they found the frontline bowlers being hit all over.

I would also like to see Yousuf Pathan playing in the XI instead of Jadeja as he matchwinner when he gets going.

Lets hope Dhoni finds lady luck in the next 2 games

-Paddy

Selectors thinking process and choice in selection sometimes defy logical thinking.

Jimmy Amarnath was a come back genius but selectors gave him a raw deal.

Some of the Tamilnadu cricketers were never given sufficient chance to prove themselves ,the selectors also need to fulfill regional quota system in selection and merit takes a back seat in such a scenario.

So their selection process sometimes leads to calling them a bunch of jokers.

Paddu sir,

Until our Cricket Board is headed by a cricketer, this kind of comedy happens.

Today our cricket board is lead by politicians and Industrialists. I dont know how much cricket they played in their child hood?

Only our Indian cricket board is selecting players for a tournaments with past records. If you see ACB, there is professionalism persists.

Thats why they are winners most of the times.

Today's Austrialian cricket team was not the exact one which visited us last time. except few players many new faces are there. Because they go by players talent.

But if just analyse our team, only few all are old lions. Because BCCI rely on past performance.

I have no second opinion about Sachin, Rahul etc., They are of course the legends, we dont need legends anymore. Let them give way to youngesters. We can see lot of sachins, Rahuls.

I still remember 1992 world cup in Australia. Inform Srikanth was a failure and was omitted in the next series. But unfit Ravishastri was there in the next team.

Except Sunil Gavaskar, all leading players including Kapil Dev was almost sent by the selectors.

I still could not believe Sachin's performance against Aussies in the Hyderabad one day. If you go back to 1998 in Sharjah against Australia, in the last 2 matches especially on the Wednesday's match(desert storm affected the play) and the final against Australia. He was at his best form.

I still search that Sachin on the match against Australia in Hyderbad, the Sharjah Sachin was a real killer. Where was he?

I think there is a big fissure in the Indian cricket team. Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj are not playing upto their potential. Dhoni has lost his magic touch. It is a shame that an australian second eleven can beat India consistently.

I am not an expert on modern cricket. I have asked for justification of the selection of Munaf Patil. What are his past records?

going by past records . . . . . .

i am sure they should also consider for inclusion in the team - Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Kapil Dev, Eknath Solkar, Mohinder Amarnath, Anshuman Gaekwad, Vijay Merchant, Vinoo Mankad, Vijay Hazare, Chandu Borde, Mansoor Ali Khan, Salim Durrani, Abbas Ali Baig and Sandeep Patil . . . . . pity that some are not around any more . . .
