TSC Consulting will give you ways you can do this even if you do not use our backup services (email me for more info).
Some great tips from the local Chamber: For Work stations-**BACKUP YOUR FILES*** First shut down all computers. Unplug from battery backup units. Turn off battery back-up units. Unplug the battery back-up units from the wall. Move the CPU (the box, main unit, processor) up off the ground and place it on a desk. Cover with plastic, garbage bags etc. If you are in an office with windows and the windows will not be secured by shutters or plywood move the unit to a desk closest to an interior wall and farthest from the windows. Also turn off and unplug all other devices such as printers, copiers, scanners etc. IF YOU DISCONNECT ANY CABLES BE SURE TO MARK THEM CLEARLY TO ENSURE PROPER RECONNECTION.
Be Sure to Have: Name of Your Insurance Company Name of Your Security Company Your employee’s home numbers An awareness of your surroundings after the hurricane A means of communication An ability to remain calm in a crisis
Disaster Supplies Checklist A supply of water (one gallon per person per day). Store water in sealed, unbreakable containers. Identify the storage date and replace every six months. A supply of non-perishable packaged or canned food and a non-electric can opener. A change of clothing, rain gear and sturdy shoes. Blankets and sleeping bags. A first aid kit and prescription medications. A battery-powered radio, flashlight and plenty of extra batteries. Credit Cards and cash. An extra set of car keys. A list of family physicians. A list of important family information; the style & serial number of medical devices such as pacemakers. Special items for infants, elderly or disabled members.

We are coming to you from a coffee shop on the U of Alabama campus in lovely Tuscaloosa, AL.
Thanks for the tips. We did well on the provisions, I am not sure what we did on the electronics before we left. It ws a 5am departure, so we were not fully conscious.
We'll post our experiences on my Thursday blog at nobulletin.blogspot.comPrivate Reply to John B.
