Hi Praveen,

I was just looking into the book your reading: "Deal with It!: You Cannot Conquer What You Will Not Confront"
It looks really powerful.
on of the coments on amazon said
" This is an incredible book.... This book takes you step by step of what you need to do.
Even though this book is targeted for women, there is a lot that men can take away from this book as well"

thanks for pointing it out...

"Unlocking the Abraham Promise" By Berin Gilfillan

I'm finding it encouraging and full of promises.

I've read Purpose Driven Life and found it irreplaceable as an encouragement for living well. Extreme motivation came from that book.

Purpose Driven Life is an excellent self-reflection book that is broken into 40 chapters meant to be read as daily readings. I'm on Day 17 now. The subtitle is "What on Earth Am I Here For?"

My aunt gave me the book and accompanying journal as a gift a year or so ago. She picked it up by 'mistake' as she is not prone to reading inspirational books or even non-fiction. She was so inspired by it, she sent it to the whole family.

So, I've finally gotten around to devoting some time to it myself. So, far it's been good for reflection, but I suspect I'll have more to say about it as I near the end.

Hello Everyone,

I've been at Ryze for a while now, but only just joined this board. It's good to be with you all.

I'm currently reading a couple of things, but the one that has my attention is The Face by Dean Zoontz. It's not as good as the Frankenstien series that he has done, but it does the job.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

Kind Regards

I have just finished reading a book written by a friend of mine, which is about to be released.

It was interesting to begin with as the thought of my friend was in the first 2 pages, then I became enthralled in the story.

It is a book for "kids of all ages" called "Cosmic Paws"
about a group of cats who band together to support Tasha(the Cat) and James (boy) to build a Light Ship for World Peace. The telepathic communication between the cats and James is a reminder to "listen" to the whispers in my mind.

Fascinating stuff, I now look at my cat to see what he is telling me.
I would recommend Cosmic Paws any day of the week.
cheers

I certainly will let you know Steve.
Its a funny thing I have Self Empowerment Books started, and yet I find them work, as I tend to be the energy in order to grow and expand my consciousness, so they seem to take an age to read.

With Cosmic Paws, I didn't want it to finish. Maybe I am just a big kid at heart.

I have learnt if I take myself too seriously nothing works. So this deep philosophical treasure has learnt to relax and play like a child and get intense only when the occasion arises.

Look forward to sharing when the Cat (Cosmic Paws)Network is ready to spread its wings.

Cheers
Tetka

Hi Lee

the book "The Success Principles" by Jack Canfield looks very powerful... I was looking at it at amazon.ca - I did not know he was one of the co-creator, with Mark Victor Hansen, of the seemingly endless Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Wow and I even have some of his books in that series but never noticed his name.

Have you read any of his other books ? :
- The Power of Focus : How to Hit Your Business, Personal and Financial Targets with Absolute Certainty
- The Aladdin Factor

Thanks
Steve

"The Kyte Runner"
"Hosseini has created characters that seem so real that one almost forgets that The Kite Runner is a novel and not a memoir. At a time when Afghanistan has been thrust into the forefront of America's collective consciousness ("people sipping lattes at Starbucks were talking about the battle for Kunduz"), Hosseini offers an honest, sometimes tragic, sometimes funny, but always heartfelt view of a fascinating land. Perhaps the only true flaw in this extraordinary novel is that it ends all too soon." from a review.

It looks as if it is something I would love to read... thanks for sharing it with us.... and it is his first book...

You know something ... I never told you what I was reading....
I have 3 books on the go at any one time..
In the self help area:
The art of spelling by Marilyn Vos Savant.
In busness (I'm re-reading):
A new Brand World by Scott Bedbury
and in Fiction:
I'm on my last 100 pages of the 850 page book called
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
This is her first book in the series of now six. (She has just published her sixth book of this popular Outlander series "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" nearly four years since The Fiery Cross in 2001)
About the book:
Claire Randall is leading a double life.  She has a husband in one century, and a lover in another...
In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord...1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire's destiny in soon inextricably intertwined with Clan MacKenzie and the forbidden Castle Leoch. She is catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life ...and shatter her heart.  For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a passion so fierce and a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
When I finish this one I hope to go on to
"Going Postal" - Discworld, Book 29
by Terry Pratchett
-----------------------
No mater what you read you are able to pick out Attitudes of others and apply it to ones self....
When you read you think when you think you meditate and then you can apply....

have a great day

Well, I am sort of between books, but I DID read the first three chapters of Glenn Reynold's new book, An Army of Davids, at Barnes and Nobles last night over a cafe au lait. It about how personal technology is enabling more people to disengage from the traditional big corporations, and have lives that are more connected to family and home and also more satifying.

Steve - I think you would agree with the reviewer of "The Kite Runner". Why I spelled "Kite" with a Y in my original post I don't know. I thought about it recently when I was looking at my book cover. (I wish we could edit our posts here on Ryze.)

We had our Book Club meeting the other night to discuss the book. We focussed a lot on the theme of redemption during our discussion. It's by far one of the best books I've ever read.
