I'm a new expectant mom - due on May 11th and there is no way that I can keep all of my inventory...so, I'm looking to blow it out at about 25% off the normal prices (so I still make a little off of it). What do you all think? Is this silly, should I just keep it and let it sit on the shelf? I know I'm not going to be full force for a few months, so I would rather sell it than have it sitting, but what are all of your thoughts.

My suggestion would be to sit on it. Having a baby is HUGE, but it will eventually calm down enough for you to resume your business and begin selling at full speed. I would rather see you sit on it and make a full profit on your sales, than cheat yourself out of the profit you deserve to make. If you offer huge discounts now, your customers may become accustomed to that and expect them all of the time.

If you are planning on staying in Mary Kay, just taking a little time due to the baby, then I would keep some product on the shelf. It has a shelf life of 3-4 years. I see no problem with holding a sale with all your current customers, but if you do have current customers, and they want to make a purchase from you in the future, you want to have some product on your shelf so you won't have to place an order to get the produt.
I have my Mary Kay business a little bit on hold. I had to take a full time job because my husband has been out of work, so I'm not selling as much as I used to, but when my current customers call, I can still give them great service with product on my shelf and not make them wait.
But if you plan on leaving Mary Kay, then yes sell your product. But don't be trying to sell to other consultant's clients or try to sell via the web. Mary Kay corporate is very strict about this and has terminated many consultants contracts for setting up their own sales sites.
Hope this helps.

If you are "taking a break", keep your inventory. IT won't be so difficult to re-start when you are ready.
I am recharging myself now that I am recovered enough from surgery to do so. It's been about 12 weeks since I have been able to really go out and do anything. Really it should be longer, but I'm bored and so will have my clients come to me for now.
The reason I share this, during my recooperation (your maternity time - I assume from the mention of baby) I relied on my website for sales. Thanks to me being a Star Consultant, I received many referrals from MK.com as well as from my fantastic current PCP clients.
Why not just offer an initial transition sale to your current clients and offer them 10% off sales for them shopping your site instead of in-person appointments. That way they are still getting a great offer, you are still getting sales even though you aren't in their face, so to speak.
Hope that helps! It was a life-saver for me!
Fondly,

This is a nice way of the "Go-Give" spirit that MK is famous for, so ladies, BRAVO!!
I think you should hang on to your inventory for just a little while. With Mother's Day coming, perhaps offer your customers a 10% discount on selective MK items and see what happens, and let them order them via the website or what you have. You still provide your customers good customer service and keeping in touch with them, before the birth.
May God bless you and your family with this wonderful baby on the way, and many blessings for your MK business.
