Darpana Athale | | If it's comfort food we talking about, and not the one we fantasise about then it's a good cup of hot chocolate/ flavoured tea... at times waran-bhaat (daal rice) with ghee (nothing beats it!)... also love paratha/rice and butter chicken/ fish curry! There was a time when I was returning from a trip in Italy, and I was dying to eat ghar ka khaana (homemade food)and had asked mom to recieve me with dal rice! Savita Govilkar | | Typical maharastrian Pithale (Slightly more liquidy version of Zunka , not as much spicy, made with onions fried till pink in tadka , with little curds added at the end) eaten with steamed hot rice , salt and ghee. Rhea | | Savita, one of our favouruite meals in Pune used to be Bhajiyas, Pithla-bhakri and dahi at the top of Sinhagad. mmmmmmmm!! I think a bit of the pleasure was the beautiful drive up to the top, and then with a little tiredness we would plonk and proceed to stuff ourselves..!! Private Reply to Rhea |

Savita Govilkar | | Yeh, Another great drinks I had on Sinhagad was Butter milk and Kokam juice. Out of the world. Specially after climbing it up all the way. Yes we did it once from the other side, no steps, no road...Also I always enjoy neera in Pune, I dont know why it is not as sweet in Mumbai. .. Specially after climbing down from Parvati, just at the base.. early morning during vacations. Also I remember a place called 'sweet home', I think off laxmi road , in Narayan Peth, Dont know whether it is still there... where I always had one huge idly dipped in Sambar(Made marathi style) with shev sprinkled on top... What a great innovation... I find quality of food in general much better in Pune compared to Mumbai... (International varieties may not be available at that exent in Pune).. May be because the vegetables are fresher and poultry products too. I think we are deviating from comfort food... cheers...Private Reply to Savita Govilkar |
